The opening-day flight of the Parx Big Stax 300 is complete! A field of 429 entries turned out for Day 1a, with that field trimming down to 71 players by night's end.

Some of the biggest stacks in the room at the end of Day 1a included Sameer Batra, who appeared to be in the chip lead at end of night with a 541,000 stack.

Other top chip stacks at the end of Day 1a included Mark Napier (417,000), George Alberto (371,500), Mike Kemeter (345,000) and Bryan Miller (329,000).

The field began with 30,000 starting chips and played through 14 45-minute levels at Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. The Day 1a survivors will now await the results of Day 1b, 1c and 1d, with the survivors of those four flights coming back as a combined field for Day 2, scheduled for Sunday.

Other players in the hunt include Sumeet Wayachal (305,000), Chris Lee (298,500), and Jin Lee (294,500).

This unlimited re-entry tournament is still open for registration through the beginning of Level 16, which is the second level of play scheduled for Day 2.

Day 1b begins at 11 a.m. tomorrow, as the Parx Big Stax 300 continues!

Miller's Quads Take Down Massive Pot

Level 14 : 1,500-3,000, 3,000 ante
Bryan Miller
Bryan Miller

Bryan Miller opened to 13,000 in early position, and got a call from the big blind.

The big blind checked the {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{q-Spades} flop, Miller bet 13,000, the big blind check-raised to 55,000, and Miller three-bet shoved for 182,000.

The big blind made the call, having Miller covered.

Bryan Miller: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Big Blind: {10-}{9-}

Miller was behind on the flop, with the big blind flopping the straight against Miller's middle set. The turn, however, brought in quads, as the {q-Clubs} hit the board. The big blind could only watch on in disbelief as the {2-Spades} river completed the hand, and the nearly 400k pot went to Miller.

Nguyen Winning Pots

Level 14 : 1,500-3,000, 3,000 ante

On a {j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop, Katie Nguyen checked from the big blind, the under-the-gun player bet 15,000, and the player on the direct left called.

Nguyen put in the check-raise to 55,000, and both opponents folded. Nguyen is surging at the end of Day 1a and looks to be in good position to end the night as one of the big stacks in the field.
