The opening-day flight of the Parx Big Stax 300 is complete! A field of 429 entries turned out for Day 1a, with that field trimming down to 71 players by night's end.
Some of the biggest stacks in the room at the end of Day 1a included Sameer Batra, who appeared to be in the chip lead at end of night with a 541,000 stack.
Other top chip stacks at the end of Day 1a included Mark Napier (417,000), George Alberto (371,500), Mike Kemeter (345,000) and Bryan Miller (329,000).
The field began with 30,000 starting chips and played through 14 45-minute levels at Parx Casino in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. The Day 1a survivors will now await the results of Day 1b, 1c and 1d, with the survivors of those four flights coming back as a combined field for Day 2, scheduled for Sunday.
Other players in the hunt include Sumeet Wayachal (305,000), Chris Lee (298,500), and Jin Lee (294,500).
This unlimited re-entry tournament is still open for registration through the beginning of Level 16, which is the second level of play scheduled for Day 2.

Players will play three more hands before Day 1a wraps for the night.
Bryan Miller opened to 13,000 in early position, and got a call from the big blind.
The big blind checked the flop, Miller bet 13,000, the big blind check-raised to 55,000, and Miller three-bet shoved for 182,000.
The big blind made the call, having Miller covered.
Miller was behind on the flop, with the big blind flopping the straight against Miller's middle set. The turn, however, brought in quads, as the hit the board. The big blind could only watch on in disbelief as the river completed the hand, and the nearly 400k pot went to Miller.
On a flop, Katie Nguyen checked from the big blind, the under-the-gun player bet 15,000, and the player on the direct left called.
Nguyen put in the check-raise to 55,000, and both opponents folded. Nguyen is surging at the end of Day 1a and looks to be in good position to end the night as one of the big stacks in the field.
Players will play through the final 45-minute level of the night, after which Day 1a will come to an end.
Four players went to a flop, and an early-position player bet 5,000. Marko Pantelic Napier called in middle position, and the other two players folded.
The early-position player bet 12,000 on the turn, Napier raised to 32,000, and the opponent called.
The early-position player then check-folded to a 53,000 bet from Napier on the river.
Ron Wilson opened to 6,000 from the cutoff, Andrew Irwin three-bet from the button, and Erwin called.
Wilson check-called a bet for 20,000 on the flop,
Wilson checked, Irwin bet 33,000 on the turn, and Wilson folded.
