Deeb Straightens Out

We just caught the tail end of a heads-up pot between Shaun Deeb and an unknown player. The board showed {Q-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {K-Spades}, and there was about 7,000 in the pot. With his opponent checking, Deeb made a multi-colored bet of somewhere around 6,000. His opponent instantly called with {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades} for two pair, but it was no good. Deeb tabled {J-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}, and his straight is good enough to earn him the pot and a chip count of 43,000.

After his opponent checked, Monnette fired 5,700. His opponent made the call and watched as Monnette turned over a full house, holding the {K-Hearts} {5-Hearts}. The other player folded and Monnette jumped up to 34,000.

Filippi Turns Top Set Into Flush

With over 9,000 in the middle, action was on Amnon Filippi as the final board read {A-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}. Filippi took some time and then fired out a hefty bet of 5,200. His opponent counted his chips before tossing in the call. Filippi tabled {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} having made a flush after flopping top set. He scooped in the pot and moved to around 42,000.

No Boost

On a board of {10-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {2-Spades} {A-Diamonds}, a player fired out 650 into Justin "BoostedJ" Smith. Smith then raised to 2,350. His opponent wasted little time in reraising to 6,650. Smith tanked, but let his hand go after a few minutes. He's down to around 23,000.

Roberts Takes an Early Hit

On a board showing {2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, an opponent led out with a 3,000 bet and Brent Roberts kicked it up to 8,000 holding {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

Fortunately for Roberts, his opponent just called holding pocket tens for a bigger full house and Roberts dropped to 24,000 after the hand.

Smith Drags the First Pot

In the first hand of the day, a player in early position limped into the pot. Adam Junglen completed from the small blind, and the option came to Dan Smith. From the big blind, he made a raise to 450. The limper called while Junglen quickly ducked out of the way.

Heads-up, the flop came {9-Spades} {9-Hearts} {4-Hearts}. Smith led out with a bet of 750, and his opponent raised it up to 2,250. Smith paused and called, and both men would check the {10-Diamonds} on the turn. The {8-Spades} filled out the board, and Smith fired 3,800 more chips. Without too much hesitation, his opponent folded.

With a quiet, "Thanks," Smith raked the first pot of the day, moving up to 32,800 in the early going.
