Medic Bests Kling

Lauren Kling
Lauren Kling
On a final board of {Q-Spades} {6-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {8-Spades}, Lauren Kling checked over to Nenad Medic with between four and five thousand chips in the middle. Medic bet 2,500. Kling tanked for a minute or so and then tossed in the call. She would kiss those chips goodbye as Medic turned over {K-Diamonds} {J-Spades} for the winning hand. Kling didn't show.

Kling has seen her stack fall to 23,500 and Medic moved up to 80,000.

Potter's Perfect Call

Jason Potter has just doubled up to 62,000 in chips after emerging victorious from a heads-up pot against high stakes cash game specialist Sami 'Lars Luzak' Kelopuro.

With the board showing {8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{K-Spades}{9-Hearts} and over 17,000 in the pot, Kelopuro bet 25,000 which was enough to put Potter all in (~20,000).

Potter tanked but eventually made the call and Kelopuro mucked straight away. Potter showed {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} to claim the pot.

Kelopuro was left with 34,000 in chips after the hand.

Lunkin Caught in a Pickle

We walked up to Vitaly Lunkin's table to see him all in and called on a flop showing {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. Lunkin had tabled {8-Spades} {8-Diamonds}, and Kasey Thompson showed {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} for the flopped full house.

Disaster would find Thompson on the turn though, as the {10-Hearts} ripped off the deck to improve Lunkin to the leading tens full of eights. The at-risk Russian needed only to fade the final seven in the deck to double up... but he could not fade it! Like a bolt of lightning, the {7-Clubs} struck the river to re-improve Thompson to the winning quad sevens, notching a knockout in the most unlikely of fashions.

The Ivey Train is Coming

THE MAN
THE MAN
Phil Ivey has moved over to a table including James Van Alstyne, Dominik Nitsche and Chris Klodnicki.

For the second hand in a row, Ivey opened to 1,600. Klodnicki three-bet to 4,500. Action folded over to Nitsche in the small blind and he moved all in for 27,375 total. Ivey made the call and then Klodnicki ducked out of the way.

Ivey revealed two kings -- {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} -- against Nitsche's {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. The board ran out {7-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {A-Spades} {8-Spades} and Ivey scooped the pot. He's up to 115,000 now while Nitsche was sent to the rail.

The PCA Raises the Bar Again

The numbers are in, and they are impressive. A total of 846 runners packed themselves into the Imperial Ballroom for today's second flight. Those players combined with the 669 from yesterday to create a total field of 1,515 runners. That's a remarkable increase of more than 150 players from last year's event. We're still waiting for the tournament staff to tally up the prize pool, and we'll pass along those figures as soon as they're available to us.

Jayded

Playboy Playmate Jayde Nicole

Jayde Nicole raised to 1,300 from middle position. Andrew McNamee raised all in from the big blind and Nicole made the call, claiming she didn't have many chips. She had 11,625 chips behind after her raise and would be the one at risk.

Nicole held {J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} against McNamee's {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}.

The board ran out {9-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} and that was the end of the line for Nicole.

After the hand, McNamee commented, "I almost didn't like that ace." as he stacked in her chips. He now has 88,000 chips.

Marco 'Crazy Marco' Johnson
Marco 'Crazy Marco' Johnson
Marco "Crazy Marco" Johnson has just managed to double up to 33,000 in chips after winning a coinflip in a recent hand.

Johnson got it all in (T15,150) before the flop holding {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} against an opponent's pocket tens and the board ran out {8-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{2-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades} giving Johnson top top to earn the checkmark for the hand.

Game, Set, Match

A very unhappy Boris Becker
A very unhappy Boris Becker
Just before the break, Boris Becker was eliminated after a rough start to his day.

With a raise in front of him, Becker shoved his last 11,325 chips in with {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}. The raiser shrugged and called with the covering stack and the dominating hand, {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}.

"Jeez!" said Becker, a bit frustrated by his predicament. The dealer wouldn't cut the tennis legend any slack either, running out a blank board of {J-Spades} {5-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {10-Spades} {10-Clubs}. That's all she wrote for Becker, and he wished his table luck and headed out the door.
