Slowing Down

The tournament has reached 226 players left and is now in hand-for-hand play. The media has been asked to stay outside of the tournament area so it's going to be a tad difficult to get in there. We'll do our best though.

There hasn't been much going on though, only five hands have been played and not much action.

Bansi and Ivey At It Again

Bansi won this battle
Bansi won this battle
Phil Ivey and Praz Bansi are yielding two of the biggest stacks in the room, but neither seem to care that it's hand-for-hand play right now.

After Ivey opened to 14,000 from the cutoff seat, Bansi called from the small blind and the two would see a flop of {J-Spades} {9-Hearts} {7-Hearts}. Bansi checked and Ivey fired 20,000. Bansi made the call.

The turn brought the {5-Spades} and Bansi check-called a bet of 55,000 from Ivey.

The river card was the {3-Diamonds} and Bansi led with 90,000. Ivey counted out the chips to make the call and then even reached as if he were going to raise. He then paused though, only posturing at the move and mucked his hand.

Ivey is on 590,000 while Bansi moved back to the top with 820,000.

Marquis Runs Kings Into Aces

While Phil Ivey and Praz Bansi were battling, you wouldn't know that there was an all-in contest at one of the other tables. The main fixture of players, media and staff were circled around the Ivey/Bansi table while Criag Marquis was shoving his stack into the middle over the top of a shove before him.

After everyone folded, Marquis held {K-Hearts} {K-Spades} up against his opponent's two red aces. The board ran out {Q-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {J-Hearts} and the all-in player doubled up, leaving Marquis with just 38,000 chips.

Not the Bubble Boy

In middle position, Carter Phillips made a small raise to 11,000. The big blind made the smooth call, and the two men watched the dealer run a flop of {K-Spades} {Q-Spades} {J-Clubs}. The action check-checked, and the turn brought the {A-Hearts}. With the four high cards on board, Phillips fired a bet of 15,000 at the pot. The big blind didn't waste much time making a raise to 45,000, and Phillips immediately began stacking chips. After just a moment, he made a reraise to 90,000 total, and his opponent sunk in his chair. After a short stint in the tank, he lamented, "Nice turn," and kicked his cards back to the dealer.

Gazes Thinks About It

Gazes toying with the decision

Eric Froehlich opened the pot to 12,500 from middle position, and Bill Gazes wanted to play for more. On the button, he made a three-bet to 32,000 straight. Froehlich asked for a guesstimate on Gazes' remaining stack, and when he learned the number, he announced a covering all in.

That sent Gazes into the tank for a minute or two, but he finally surrendered his cards and opted to save his remaining 78,000 chips for a better spot.

Bubble Popped By Bonomo; Leathart Gone

From the button, Justin Bonomo raised to 12,000 and PokerStars online qualifier John Leathart called out of the small blind. The flop came down {8-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {7-Hearts} and Leathart checked. Bonomo fired 20,000 and Leathart called.

The turn card added the {10-Hearts} to the board. Leathart checked again and Bonomo fired 45,000. Leathart made the call.

The river card slapped the {A-Diamonds} on the felt and Leathart checked. Bonomo moved all in, having Leathart covered. Leathart made the call and then watched as Bonomo flipped up the {8-Diamonds} {7-Spades} for a flopped full house.

Leathart was eliminated in 225th place and was the tournament's official bubble boy. Bonomo moved his stack up to 520,000.

Added Time

Due to the length of hand-for-hand play, the tournament staff has wound the clock back to 45 minutes left in the level. The level was nearing completion at the time the bubble burst so this should accommodate the players nicely.

Lawson Bounced By Suied

Lawson has been eliminated
Lawson has been eliminated
A player in middle position raised to 12,000 before Ted Lawson moved all in for approximately 100,000 chips. Next in line was Danny Suied and he made the call of Lawson's all-in bet before everyone else folded.

Lawson tabled {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}, but was behind Suied's {J-Spades} {J-Clubs}.

The board ran out {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {3-Spades} {K-Diamonds} to eliminate Lawson. Suied moved up to 655,000 chips.

Ramdin Eliminated

Victor Ramdin - Out
Victor Ramdin - Out
Under the gun, Victor Ramdin stuck his final 16,000 puny chips into the pot. The table folded all the way around to the big blind who called dark, and the cards were on their backs. Ramdin showed up {A-?} {5-?}, and he was ahead of the big blind's {Q-?} {2-?}.

The board frowned on the jovial Team PokerStars Pro, though. It ran down {Q-?} {10-?} {8-?} {Q-?} {10-?}. Ramdin can't beat a full house, and he wished his table luck as he headed toward the payout desk.
