Brett Richey Eliminated in 15th Place ($55,490)

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante
Brett Richey - 15th
Brett Richey - 15th

Brett Richey was all in preflop on the button holding {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} against the {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} of Brandon Steven. Richey had the best preflop hand in poker and was in great shape to double, especially after the flop came down {Q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}.

After the {6-Diamonds} was put out on the turn, Richey needed to dodge just a jack on the river to keep his tournament hopes alive. Astonishingly, the river was the {J-Hearts}. Steven's two-outer had come through to give him the win, bringing him up to 635,000. Richey, who cashed in this same event last year, was sent to the rail in 15th place, good for $55,490.

Seidel's Turn to Double

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Shander de Vries raised to 24,000 under the gun, a raise that was called by Brandon Steven in the cutoff. The short-stacked Erik Seidel then moved all in for 139,000 from the small blind. De Vries isolated with an all-in shove and Steven got out of the way.

De Vries: {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Seidel: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Seidel was ahead and stayed that way as the board ran out an rather dull {K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. Seidel doubled to 321,000 while de Vries dropped to 580,000.

Marchese Moves All In

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Erik Seidel raised to 26,000 from middle position and ran into a Tom Marchese all-in reraise to the tune of 126,000. Seidel thought for about a minute before tossing in a call.

Marchese: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Seidel: {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

The {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop kept Marchese in the lead as did the {A-Clubs} on the turn. Seidel needed a king or queen on the river to eliminate his foe, but it wasn't in the cards as the {4-Clubs} hit. Seidel took a hit down to 149,000 while Marchese doubled to 278,000.

Race for the Chip Lead

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Shander de Vries raised to 24,000 from the cutoff and was met with a raise to 60,000 from Brett Richey in the small blind. De Vries wasted little time in moving all in for 403,000 and Richey called to create a monster pot.

De Vries: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Richey: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

Once again it was a race for the chip lead. The rest of the table watched anxiously as the flop came down {10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs}. De Vries had survived the first three cards, which was followed by the {K-Clubs} on the turn. Richey picked up some extra outs, but none managed to hit as the {9-Clubs} peeled off on the river. Richey took a big hit down to 295,000 while de Vries doubled to 835,000.

Steven Wakes Up with the Ladies

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Brandon Steven moved all in under the gun and was called by Tom Marchese from the small blind. After the big blind folded, the cards were turned up:

Marchese: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Steven: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

Steven was ahead and looking to dodge an ace, a feat he accomplished as the board ran out {5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Steven doubled to 245,000 on the hand while Marchese dropped to 145,000.
