Jaka Wins a Monster

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

Faraz Jaka raised to 3,700 from the cutoff only to have Bryn Kenney reraise to 11,500 from the button. Both blinds folded and Jaka made the call to see the {2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop. Both players checked and the dealer burned and turned the {3-Spades}.

Jaka bet 16,000 and Kenney smooth-called behind. When the {K-Clubs} hit the river, Jaka fired out 70,000! Kenney opted to make the call but could only muck after seeing Jaka's {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Jaka is up to 250,000 while Kenney dropped to just 20,000.

Alaei Sucks Out on Greenberg

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Action folded to Lawrence Greenberg in the small blind and he put in a raise to 8,000. Daniel Alaei was in the big blind and pushed back to the tune of 21,000. Greenberg thought for a moment, grabbed his stack, and moved all in for a total of 60,000. Alaei quickly called and the cards were revealed:

Alaei: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Greenberg: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

Big pairs colliding in the blinds is unusual, but at least Greenberg, who was the one at risk, held the better hand. The {4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} flop changed nothing and neither did the {4-Spades} river. Alaei could only catch a queen on the river to eliminate his opponent. BINK . . . {Q-Hearts} on the river for the two outer. Greenberg was shell shocked as he exited the tournament area. With that, Alaei is up to 220,000.

The Shark is Caught

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Humberto Brenes
Humberto Brenes

When Team PokerStars Pro (Costa Rica) Humberto Brenes goes all in, the room usually hears about it. This time, however, the all in of Brenes was subdued. Perhaps it was because his {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} was dominated by the {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} of Bryn Kenney.

The board ran out an uneventful {J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{J-Spades} and Kenney acquired Brenes' stack of 38,000. Unfortunately, one of poker's biggest and loudest characters has been eliminated from the tournament.

Rousso Doubles Through Elias

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Vanessa Rousso
Vanessa Rousso

Darren Elias raised to 3,200 from the button only to be reraised to 11,500 by Vanessa Rousso in the big blind. Elias responded by moving all in and Rousso called off for a total of 40,300.

Elias: {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Rousso: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

The {9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop gave Elias some straight outs and the {J-Spades} turn only added to them; however, the {5-Clubs} peeled off on the river and Rousso survived. She is now up to 85,000 or so; meanwhile, Elias is down to 80,000.

Bergman Ditches Big Slick

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With around 100,000 in the pot and a board reading {K-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, Rob Akery moved all in from the big blind for 42,000. His sole opponent, Josh Bergman, had been under the gun and only had 39,500. A call would be for all his chips and he seemed tortured. After a moment, Bergman showed Akery {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and reluctantly folded. Akery is up to around 142,000.

Paredes Shoves the River

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
David Paredes
David Paredes

On a flop of {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, David Paredes bet 16,000 and Tobias Kuder called from the button. Both players then checked the {3-Diamonds} turn and watched the {K-Clubs} peel off on the river. Paredes immediately moved all in for 48,800 and Kuder hit the tank. After a few minutes, Kuder laid down his hand and dropped to 70,000 in the process. Paredes is up to around 100,000.

Gregg Eliminates Gomes

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Alexandre Gomes
Alexandre Gomes

Anthony Gregg opened for 2,600 from early position and was called by Erik Seidel in middle position. When action was on Team PokerStars Pro (Brazil) Alex Gomes in the cutoff, he moved all in for right around 25,000. Gregg made the call while Seidel got out of the way.

Gregg: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Gomes: {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

Race situations have been the standard of the day thus far and this was no different. The {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop changed nothing and neither did the {7-Spades} turn. In order to survive, Gomes needed to catch a king of queen on the river. The dealer slowly burned and turned the non-paint {8-Hearts}. Gomes was sent to the rail while Gregg increased his stack to 175,000.

Josephy Eliminated by Pocket Rockets

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante
Cliff Josephy
Cliff Josephy

Matt Affleck was under the gun and opened for 2,800. Kyle Julius was next to act and made the call. Cliff Josephy was next in line and moved all in for a total of 28,200. Action folded all the way back to Affleck and he quickly called. Julius folded and the cards were turned up:

Affleck: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Josephy: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Josephy desperately needed an eight but couldn't connect as the board ran out {10-Clubs}{K-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{K-Hearts}. He was eliminated from the High Roller tournament while Affleck continued his Day 2 hot streak.

Paur Hanks

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

After a couple raises in front of him, Brent Hanks moved all in for 22,500 more from the big blind. Only Taylor Paur made the call and the cards were turned up:

Paur: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Hanks: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}

It was another race situation but not so much after the flop fell {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{6-Hearts}. Paur was still ahead and left Hanks drawing thin. The {9-Diamonds} turn changed nothing and neither did the {3-Clubs} river. Hanks was eliminated from the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25,000 High Roller Tournament, while Paur chipped up to around 145,000.
