De Vries' Tournament Life on the Line

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Shandar de Vries was all in preflop for 112,800 and called by the superior stack of Faraz Jaka.

De Vries: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Jaka: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

Jaka was in a dominating position and stayed there through the {3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop and {J-Diamonds} turn. De Vries was standing and ready to leave if he didn't catch a king on the river. Surprise, surprise . . . the river was the {K-Clubs} and de Vries doubled to 230,000. Jaka took a big hit and is down to around 145,000.

Double Elimination for Marchese

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

Tom Marchese was in middle position when he threw in a standard raise. Nick Mitchell then moved all in from the hijack followed by Anthony Spinella in the big blind. When action was back on Marchese, who had both players covered, he made the call.

Marchese: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Mitchell: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Spinella: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

Marchese held the best hand and was looking to dodge an ace and seven. He did just that on the {9-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop; however, Mitchell picked up a bunch of outs to a straight. The {2-Spades} turn was a safe card for Marchese and it was down to the river. The dealer burned and put up the {K-Spades}! Marchese's queens held and he managed to eliminate two opponents while increasing his own stack to around 460,000.

Queens vs. Kings

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Leo Fernandez
Leo Fernandez

Gustavo Kein raised to 10,000 from middle position and was met with a reraise to 42,000 from Freddy Deeb in the hijack. Action folded to PokerStars Team Pro (Argentina) Leo Fernandez in the small blind and he shoved all in for 210,900. Surprisingly, Hafiz Khan called all in for around 160,000 right behind in the big blind. Both Kein and Deeb got out of the way as the hands were turned up:

Khan: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Fernandez: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

Khan was in big trouble and needed some help. The {J-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop did not provide it and neither did the {9-Spades}. Khan needed a queen on the river to stay alive, but instead it was the {7-Hearts}. Khan was eliminated from the $25k High Roller event here at the PCA while Fernandez chipped up to 410,000.

Jaka Out Flops Gregg

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

Faraz Jaka raised to 6,500 from the hijack, Max Lykov raised to 16,000, Anthony Gregg four-bet to 33,300, and Jaka moved all in. After Lykov folded, Gregg called all in for around 106,000.

Jaka: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Gregg: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

Gregg was racing for his tournament life but came in second place as the board ran out {J-Clubs}{2-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Gregg was eliminated from the tournament while Jaka increased his stack to around 345,000.

Metaal Doubles, Julius Crippled

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

After a series of preflop raises, Govert Metaal was all in for around 120,000 and covered by Kyle Julius.

Metaal: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Julius: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

Metaal was in a dominating and even more so when the flop fell {J-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}. The {8-Diamonds} turn left Julius drawing dead and the {9-Diamonds} was put out on the river for good measure. With that, Metaal doubled to 240,000 while Julius was left with just 20,000.

Reiman Extends Chip Lead

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Ty Reiman
Ty Reiman

With around 70,000 in the pot and a board reading {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, a war broke out between Ty Reiman and Masa Kagawa. We believe Kagawa checked-shoved all in for 103,400. Reiman wasn't quick to call, but he eventually did.

Kagawa: {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Reiman: {J-Spades}{9-Spades}

"Good luck," Reiman said to his opponent. As fate would have it, luck was not in Kagawa's corner as the {2-Hearts} hit. Reiman took down the huge pot to push him over 500,000 and into the chip lead. Kagawa, on the other hand, was left to make the long, lonely walk out of the tournament area.

No Mercy for Elias

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

Jason Mercier raised to 6,000 from the hijack and was immediately met with an all-in reraise to 39,000 from Darren Elias on the button. The blinds folded and Mercier made the call:

Mercier: {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Elias: {6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Elias wasn't that much of a dog until the flop came down {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{A-Hearts}. Elias was already making his exit as the dealer turned the {Q-Hearts} followed by the {Q-Clubs} on the river. Mercier took down the pot with a full house and added 39,000 to his stack.
