Jaka'd Up

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante

Faraz Jaka is back up after finding about 100,000 chips to add to his stack during the last hand. We picked up the action on the turn as the board read {9-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} and there was about 80,000 in the pot. Jaka fired 55,000, and his opponent didn't waste much time calling.

That brought them to the scary {10-Clubs} river, and Jaka moved all in for a lot. It was somewhere around 180,000, a similar stack to that of his opponent. There was no call however, and Jaka was allowed to take the pot to move back to ~365,000.

E-Fro Rising

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 400 ante
Eric Froehlich
Eric Froehlich

Eric Froehlich's excellent Day 2 continues, as he is very close to the chip lead with about 565,000. Most recently, he eliminated a short-stacked opponent.

The board read {K-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} and the short-stacked opponent was already all in. Another player bet 15,000 into Froehlich, which E-Fro raised to 40,000. That opponent gave it up after a little while and E-Fro tabled {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. The short-stacked player's {3-Clubs}{3-Spades} was slaughtered and found no help from the turn and river.

Big Pot Between Jaka and Sands

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

Just before the break a big hand developed between David "Doc" Sands and Faraz Jaka. When we caught up with the action there was around 70,000 in the pot and a board reading {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Sands was in middle position and led out for 23,4000, which Jaka called from the cutoff.

The dealer then put the {3-Hearts} on the river and Sands bet 36,700. Jaka thought about it for well over a minute before making the call. Sands flipped {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and immediately began to collect his chips. Jaka could do nothing but muck. With that, Sands is up to 490,000 while Jaka dropped to 250,000.

Hold the Action

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

That's four levels down, two to go. The players have been ordered out of the room for a 15-minute break during which they can enjoy The Bahamas' finest jerk chicken and mac & cheese out in the corridors.

Sands Busts One

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Doc Sands
Doc Sands

We arrived at the table and Dave Sands bet 12,400 on a {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} board. One opponent called, JP Kelly folded, and the {8-Clubs} hit the turn. Sands bet 21,600 and his opponent responded with an all-in shove for about 101,000. Sands called instantly with {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, having his opponent's {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} crushed. The river was the {9-Clubs} and Sands is now up to about 380,000.

Ramdin Gives a Double, Needs a Double

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

We picked up three-handed action on a {5-Spades} {2-Clubs} {10-Hearts} flop as Ted Lawson checked. An player we don't recognize checked as well, and Victor Ramdin overbet the pot with 40,000 chips. It was enough to cover both opponents, and Lawson made a speech before folding. The other player quickly called all in for his last 33,600 though, and Ramdin had his hand caught in the cookie jar:

Ramdin: {K-Spades} {J-Clubs}
Opponent: {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}

Ramdin was drawing to runner-runner, and the turn {7-Clubs} ended any hopes of that. The river {3-Diamonds} was a mere formality, and Ramdin has granted a double up he could scarcely afford to grant. He's down to 55,000 now.

Kuerten Barely Hanging On

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Gustavo Kuerten
Gustavo Kuerten

Gustavo Kuerten has been nursing a short stack for quite some time. He was seated at the same table as fellow superstar athlete, Orel Hershiser, for much of the day, but there wasn't enough room at the table for two greats. Hershiser was eliminated not too long. Unfortunately, Kuerten will need a little luck to avoid the same fate.

Recently, Kuerten was in the big blind and had a total stack of just 24,600. A player in early position raised to 9,000 and Kuerten looked down at {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. It was good enough for Kuerten and he moved all in. His opponent called and flipped {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. The board ran out {6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and Kuerten survived, albeit with a chop.

Kelly Picks One Up

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

On the flop of {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, one player checked to Faraz Jaka and he fired 14,000. The next player called and then JP Kelly called as well. The first player folded.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and action checked to Kelly. He fired 27,000 and won the pot.

Kelly is now up to 175,000 in chips.

Sands' Full House Beats Jaka

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

With the board reading {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, David "Doc" Sands fired 14,400 and Faraz Jaka called. The river then completed the board with the {K-Spades} and Sands fired again. This time he made it 17,600. Jaka tanked for a couple minutes before making the call. Sands tabled the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} for a full house, sevens over jacks. Jaka gave one last look at his hand and then mucked it, dropp back to about 400,000 in chips. Sands increased to 270,000.
