1.15 Million Chip Pot

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante
Eric Froehlich
Eric Froehlich

Eric Froehlich was in early position and raised to 20,000. Action folded to Robert Akery in the small blind and he promptly raised around 30,000 more. Not to be deterred, Froehlich popped it an additional 80,000. Akery responded by moving all in for right around 600,000 while Froelich shrugged and called off his stack of 517,500. Just like that the pot had swelled to 1.15 million, creating what could be the biggest pot in the tournament thus far.

Froehlich: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Akery: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

It was a classic race in a critical point of the tournament. The winner would be among the biggest stacks in the room while the loser would either be eliminated or crippled. The table was silent as the flop came down {9-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}. Froehlich had hit a set but Akery could still catch a ten for a straight.

The dealer slowly burned and turned the {9-Spades}, which gave Froehlich a full house and left Akery drawing dead. The {7-Hearts} was put out on the river for good measure but Akery was left with less than 100,000. Froehlich now sits with one of the biggest stacks in the room.

Sabat Doubles Through Patchell, Gets Into Small Spat With Lawson

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante
Eddy Sabat
Eddy Sabat

Eddy Sabat opened to 18,000 from late position prompting Joel Patchell to three-bet to 51,000 from the blinds. Sabat then four-bet to 83,000, leaving 91,500 behind, and Patchell tank-called.

The flop fell {2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, Patchell instantly moved all in and Sabat snapped it off.

Patchell: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Sabat: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

The dealer began to burn and turn a card but the ESPN camera crews weren't ready yet and he put the burn card back on top of the deck. Finally, when cued, the dealer burned a card and turned the {6-Clubs}. There was then a pause for reaction shots, the crew gave one last cue and the dealer burned a final card and delivered the {k-Clubs} on the river.

Sabat's aces held doubling him to 355,000 chips while Patchell dropped to 245,000.

After the hand tablemate Ted Lawson asked for the floor because he thought Sabat made a string bet preflop. The entire table, including the dealer, defended Sabat saying he made no forward motion nor did he cross the line when cutting out chips. Lawson eventually waived a white flag and the floor was not called, but there is definitely some tension between he and the rest of the table.

Wood Burned

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Scott Ward raised to 20,000 from middle position and action folded to Matt Wood in the small blind. He reraised all in and the big blind folded. After a minute in the tank, Ward called.

Ward: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Wood: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Spades} and Wood hit the rail. Ward moved to 340,000 in chips.

Binger Picks Up Kings

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Max Lehmanski was under the gun and raised to 17,500 only to have Kim Frederiksen make it 48,000 to go from the hijack. Action folded to Michael Binger in the big blind and he slid his entire stack or 153,500 in the middle. Lehmanski folded while Frederiksen made the call:

Binger: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Frederiksen: {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Binger was way ahead but the {3-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} gave Frederiksen a flush draw. Binger survived the {J-Spades} turn and just needed to dodge a diamond or ten on the river. When the {J-Clubs} peeled off, Binger took down the pot and increased his stack to around 330,000.

Busse Doubles Through Chip Leader

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

2010 WSOP bracelet winner Shawn Busse was all in preflop for his last 155,000 chips against our leader Adam Geyer moments ago. Busse's {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} was racing against Geyer's {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and the {10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop brought a nice sweat. The {8-Spades} on the turn was a brick and although the river was red, the {10-Hearts} changed nothing and Busse doubled to 320,000 chips.

Geyer has no reason to fret, he still has a massive stack with 990,000 chips.

Lendavi Hits the Rail

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Tamas Lendvai was all in preflop with {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} against the {K-Spades}{J-Hearts} Joel Patchell. The {J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop was disaster for Lendavi and he needed a ten or running straight cards on the turn and river to survive. The {5-Diamonds} turn was no help and neither was the {2-Diamonds} river. Lendavi hit the rail while Patchell is up to a little over 300,000.
