D'Auteuil Coolered Off

Anthony Gregg raking in the double-up chips
Anthony Gregg raking in the double-up chips

First in from the hijack seat, Anthony Gregg just called, and Phil D'Auteuil raised to 280,000 from the big blind. Perhaps surprisingly (or perhaps not), Gregg limp-raised all in for 2.32 million, and D'Auteuil made the call for almost all his own chips and the chance at the knockout. It was a serious cooler.

Showdown
Gregg: {K-Clubs} {K-Spades}
D'Auteuil: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}

Gregg's kings were never in much jeopardy as the board came {9-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {8-Spades} {10-Spades}, and he's vaulted up into second place overall. He's got about 4.7 million now, while D'Auteuil will be left with just about 600,000 with which to try and work a comeback.

Visser Doubles Back

Ruben Visser
Ruben Visser

In the cutoff seat, Kyle Julius raised to 175,000, and Xuan Liu put out 260,000. It was an under-raise, and it's not clear to us whether she intended to call or raise. Regardless, she was asked to make it 270,000 for a legal raise, and Ruben Visser responded by shoving all in for 1.88 million total, and Julius ducked for cover. Liu snap-called, though, and the cards were shown up.

Liu was working with {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, but Visser had that smashed. His {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} had him poised for a monster double, and Julius said he'd folded pocket tens. Liu didn't believe him.

In any event, the board ran out {10-Spades} {8-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {8-Clubs}, and Visser has smashed a double. It moves him all the way up to 4.075 million and just ahead of Liu. She's still got 4 million left, and it's starting to get a little clogged at the top of the counts.

Daniel Shiff Eliminated in 12th Place ($85,000)

Daniel Shiff - 12th place
Daniel Shiff - 12th place

It's apparently going to be a game of leapfrog atop the chip counts, and Kyle Julius has just jumped back to the front.

It was Martin Jacobson who opened the pot, though he'd not make it past the flop. Julius (button) and Daniel Shiff (big blind) both called, and the dealer spread out {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}, and it checked to Julius. He bet 175,000, but Shiff check-raised to 350,000, and that's what shook Jacobson out of the way. The call came from Julius, though, and the {Q-Hearts} paired the board on the turn. Check-check.

On the river, the {9-Clubs} drew a leading bet of 200,000 from Shiff, leaving just about that much behind, too. Julius insta-announced an all-in raise, and Shiff was looking pretty miserable about this time. He had little choice but to call though, and the news was not good. Julius showed up {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}, and Shiff flashed his worthless {K-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} as he spun them into the muck.

It's the end of the line for Shiff, and he'll stop by the cashier to pick up a check for $85,000 on his way out the door.

We've got 11 players left.

Bernstein Raises the Roof

David Bernstein
David Bernstein

The table folded around to the blinds, and David Bernstein open-shoved for the 860,000 he had left. Next door, Phil D'Auteuil looked down at {A-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} and made the call, and Bernstein's {K-Hearts} {8-Hearts} was an underdog to keep him around.

He was drawing live, though, and the {K-Spades} {7-Hearts} {4-Hearts} flop was about as good as it gets. It was good enough that the {A-Hearts} on the turn was further improvement, and Bernstein threw his arms up in the air to celebrate his now-certain double. The {7-Spades} river was meaningless, and D'Auteuil has given his neighbor a double up.

Liu Back in Front

Xuan Liu
Xuan Liu

Xuan Liu opened the pot to 160,000 from the hijack, and Ruben Visser flatted from the button to go heads up.

The dealer spread out {K-Clubs} {2-Spades} {2-Hearts}, and Liu continued out with another 175,000. Visser called that bet, and another 285,000 when the {A-Hearts} turned, and the {6-Spades} filled out the board on the river. Liu pulled the hammer back and fired another 910,000 into the pot, and Visser paid it off with {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. It was no good.

The lady tabled her {A-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}, and three pair beats two pair in this spot. Visser is forced to pay off a big debt, dropping all the way back to 2.01 million. Liu, on the other hand, has snagged back the chip lead, and she should have about 5.9 million chips when she finishes stacking up.

Dibella Barrels, Julius Drags a Big One

Kyle Julius
Kyle Julius

From the button, Kyle Julius opened with a raise to 180,000, and Kyle Julius defended his big blind to see a flop heads-up.

It came {2-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}, and Julius check-called 225,000. He check-called another 340,000 after the {8-Spades} turn, and the {A-Clubs} filled out the board on fifth. Dibella was barreling right way, and he made one final bet of 425,000. Julius wasted no time calling.

"Nothing," Dibella said, and the table waited for him to show. He eventually rolled over his {4-Spades} {5-Hearts}, then Julius flopped his superior {A-Spades} {J-Spades} down onto the table to drag the pot.

It was a big one, and it gives Julius a bit of a cushion at the top of the leaderboard. He's got about 5.5 million now, the first players to crest that milestone.
