Jacobson Doubles Through

Mark Drover raised first in from the hijack, and Martin Jacobson stuck in a reraise from the button. From the cold, Anthony Gregg made another raise, pushing all in over the top. That folded Drover, but Jacobson called all in for his last 830,000.

Showdown
Jacobson: {K-Clubs} {K-Spades}
Gregg: {8-Hearts} {8-Spades}

Jacobson's overpair was the best all the way through the {Q-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {4-Clubs} {J-Spades} board, and the perennial EPT finalist has doubled back above average.

Charles Furey Eliminated in 19th Place ($52,000)

Charles Furey - 19th place
Charles Furey - 19th place

Ruben Visser is on a tear right now. After he opened the cutoff to 80,000 in the last pot, Charles Furey three-bet all in for what looked like 365,000. Visser made the call with {5-Spades} {5-Clubs}, and Furey's {A-Clubs} {4-Clubs} was drawing slim to survive.

Furey picked up a flush draw when the turn arrived on the {2-Spades} {9-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} board, but he couldn't connect with the river. The {2-Diamonds} was a blank, and Furey has been sent off in 19th place.

After starting the level on the second shortest stack in the room, Visser has put himself back in the mix of chip leaders with 2.45 million now.

Maksim Semisoshenko Eliminated in 20th Place ($52,000)

Maksim Semisoshenko - 20th place

We picked up the action on a {J-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} flop in a heads-up pot between Ruben Visser and Maksim Semisoshenko. As you can probably tell from the post title, things did not end well for Semisoshenko. He check-raised from 65,000 to 180,000 on that flop, and Visser flatted to see the {J-Spades} put trips on board on the turn. Semisoshenko bet 200,000, Visser called, and the {7-Hearts} hit the river. Semisoshenko had less than 400,000 chips left by that point, and he announced his all in. It's hard to fault him for going with {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} there, but Visser's {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} had that soundly beaten.

Quads are good enough for Visser to tally the knockout, and Semisoshenko's kings go under to send him out as the 20th-place finisher.

Xuan Liu Times Two

In a battle of the blinds, Xuan Liu and Mark Drover mixed up in a raising war that left Liu all in for 895,000. She was well ahead, though, and her {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} had her poised to double against Drover's {A-Spades} {5-Spades}.

The {10-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {6-Clubs} flop was a sigh of relief for Liu, and the {9-Spades} turn secured her double up one card early. The {7-Hearts} river was meaningless, and Liu has doubled her way back over the chip average.

Corey Burbick Eliminated in 21st Place ($52,000)

Corey Burbick - 21st place
Corey Burbick - 21st place

In early position, David Bernstein came in raising to 85,000, and Corey Burbick stuck his last ~600,000 in there with {7-Spades} {7-Clubs}. Bernstein made the call with the covering stack, and his {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} was flipping for the knockout.

Board: {5-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} (bink!) {3-Clubs}

Burbick's sevens can't hold strong, and he's run out of chips here in the Main Event. It was an impressive run for "comandr_cool", but he'll have to settle for a 21st-place result worth $52,000.

Visser Gets it In There

Ruben Visser
Ruben Visser

When the table folded around to the blinds, Ruben Visser shoved all in for 600,000 with Charles Furey behind him in the big blind. Furey looked down at {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} and made the call with the covering stack, and Visser tabled his fairly inferior {7-Clubs} {4-Clubs}.

The {3-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {10-Clubs} flop gave both players a pair but kept Furey in the lead with his tens. The turn, however, brought the {7-Diamonds} and another pair for Visser, and he was now the one well in front with one to come. Furey bricked on the {Q-Hearts} river, and Visser is going to be sticking around. He's doubled to 1.235 million, and Furey is knocked all the way down under 400,000.

Jaka Dented Again

Faraz Jaka raised to 90,000 in early position, and Phil D'Auteuil three-bet to 215,000 one from the button. Jaka flatted, and off they went.

The flop came {7-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}, and Jaka check-called another 175,000. The {4-Diamonds} turn went check-check, and the {9-Clubs} completed the board. When Jaka checked again, D'Auteuil took his cue to make a healthy bet of 600,000, and Jaka paid it off.

D'Auteuil showed up {J-Spades} {J-Clubs}, and the set of jacks hooked him a big pot. It's about a million-chip swing for both players, and that blow knocks Jaka back down around 1.5 million.

Jaka Talks Himself Into It

Faraz Jaka opened the pot to 85,000, and David Granados defended his big blind to go heads up. The dealer gave them {10-Spades} {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} to work with on the flop, and Granados check-called another 80,000 from Jaka. They both checked through the {J-Diamonds} turn, and the {K-Hearts} completed the board. Now Granados led out into the pot with 155,000, and that forced Jaka to take pause. He cut the call from his stack and shot a glance across the table. He made a couple quiet comments as he tried to get a read on Granados, but it looked like he was going to talk himself into a fold.

Jaka picked his hole cards up off the table and stared at them for a while, occasionally glancing up at the board and his opponent. He had his cards a few inches out in front of him in his left hand, but he suddenly grabbed the calling chips with his right and slung them across the line.

Granados showed {A-Spades} {5-Clubs} for the airball, and Jaka's {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} was the best hand and good enough to win the pot.
