Brandon Steven Eliminated in 21st Place ($54,980)

Brandon Steven - 21st Place
Brandon Steven - 21st Place

Action folded around to Chris Klodnicki on the button and he opened with a raise. A short-stacked Brandon Steven, who was one of only two Day 1 casualties to reenter at the start of Day 2, then moved all in for around 50,000 from the small blind. The big blind got out of the way, Klodnicki called, and the cards were turned up.

Steven: {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Klodnicki: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

It was a classic flip, but Steven needed to improve to keep his tournament life alive. Unfortunately for him, he'd receive none a the board ran out {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. Two buy-ins in this event equals $50K, but at least Steven was able to turn a small profit.

Max Silver - 22nd Place

Max Silver opened to 12,000 from the hijack seat, Sam Stein called in the cutoff, and Shaun Deeb three-bet to 41,000 on the button. Silver four-bet jammed for what looked like 200,000 or so, Stein folded, and Deeb snap-called.

Silver: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Deeb: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

The board ran out {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{j-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades}, and Silver was eliminated. Deeb now has 960,000 chips.

Jeff Gross Eliminated in 23rd Place ($54,980)

Jeff Gross - 23rd Place
Jeff Gross - 23rd Place

"You've had a nice run of cards over there," Jeff Gross told Ole Schemion upon discovering some bad news.

Before we get to that, let us set the stage. Ole Schemion had opened for 12,000 only to have Mickey Petersen three-bet to 25,000. Gross then four-bet all in from the button for around 140,000, the blinds folded, and Schemion moved all in over the top. Petersen quickly got out of the way and Schemion tabled {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

"That's true," Schemion replied to Gross' aforementioned observation. Gross then flipped over the inferior {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}.

"I due to get lucky," Gross said. No sooner did he say it than the dealer diminished his hopes with a dry {J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop. The {10-Diamonds} turn gave Gross some hope with an open-ended straight draw, but he was not due to get lucky on the river as the {A-Clubs} blanked.

Brandon Meyers Eliminated in 24th Place ($54,980)

Brandon Meyers - 24th Place
Brandon Meyers - 24th Place

Action folded to short stack Brandon Meyers in the hijack seat, and he raised all in for 50,000. Mike Watson called on the button, and everyone else folded.

Watson tabled the {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} to dominate Meyers' {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}.

On the flop, Meyers picked up additional outs with a flush draw as the {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts} fell. The turn was the {5-Spades} and river the {7-Diamonds}, missing Meyers and sending him out the door in 24th place.

Reinkemeier Cracks Weissman's Kings

When we reached the table, Joey Weissman had a four-bet sitting in front of him. Tobias Reinkemeier, the three-bettor, moved all in. Weissman called.

Weissman: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Reinkemeier: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The dealer fanned {7-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{a-Hearts}, giving Reinkemeier trip aces, and the German held as the turn and river came {9-Diamonds}, {2-Diamonds} respectively.

Petrangelo is the Bubble Boy

Nicolas Petrangel bubbles
Nicolas Petrangel bubbles

The money bubble has burst on just the fourth hand of hand-for-hand play with Nicholas Petrangelo finishing as the unfortunate bubble boy.

It happened when a short-stacked Petrangelo moved all in under the gun for 79,000 holding {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and he cleared the field all the way around to Shawn Buchanan, who woke up with {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} in the big blind. The call was made and immediately the cameras, media and other players surrounded the table to watch.

Petrangelo was in need of a nine to keep his 2013 PCA $25,000 High Roller hopes alive, but it just wasn't in the cards as the board ran out an uneventful {3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{J-Spades}. All things considered, Petrangelo seemed to take being the bubble boy in stride.

Wide Left

On the third hand of hand-for-hand play, Mike Watson opened to 2,000, Christian Harder called on the button, and Sam Stein defended from the big blind. The dealer fanned {3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, and all three players checked.

The turn was the {q-Hearts}, Stein led out for 24,000, and only Watson called.

The {7-Diamonds} completed the board, and both Stein and Watson checked. Stein showed {j-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a pair of jacks, but Watson had that beat with {j-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for a pair of jacks with a better kicker.
