One for Savard

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Oleksii Khoroshenin raised to 85,000 from the cutoff seat, and Jean-Pascal Savard called on the button. Nick Petrangelo called from the big blind, and the flop came down {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. All three players checked, and the turn was the {A-Diamonds}. Following a check from Petrangelo and Khoroshenin, Savard bet 142,000. Petrangelo and Khoroshenin folded, to give Savard the pot.

Petrangelo Folds to Garibli

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Nick Petrangelo opened to 90,000 in the hijack, Ilkin Garibli called from the cutoff, Faraz Jaka called on the button and Oleksii Khoroshenin called in the big blind.

They each checked to the turn of a {J-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{J-Clubs} board where Garibli bet 185,000. Only Petrangelo called to see the {6-Spades} river, which he checked. Garibli bet 335,000, sending Petrangelo into the tank for a bit before he folded.

"Muck, dont show," requested Petrangelo.

"Don't worry, no free information," laughed Garibli.

Nines For Khoroshenin

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Oleksii Khoroshenin made it 85,000 from early position and Nick Petrangelo called from the cutoff. The button and blinds folded, leaving the two heads up to the flop.

The dealer put out {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Khoroshenin quickly checked. Petrangelo bet 115,000 and Khoroshenin called. Both players checked the {6-Spades} on the turn and the {J-Hearts} on the river, allowing Khoroshenin to table a winning {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}. He pulled the pot and now has about 2.27 million in chips.

Three-Bet from Petrangelo

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

With a dead button following the elimination of Dan Heimiller in eighth place, Jean-Pascal Savard raised to 90,000 from early position. Nick Petrangelo three-bet to 240,000 from what was effectively the cutoff seat, and play folded back to Savard. He folded, and Petrangelo won the pot.

Dan Heimiller Eliminated in 8th Place ($162,700)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Dan Heimiller - 8th Place
Dan Heimiller - 8th Place

From the cutoff seat, Nick Petrangelo raised to 100,000. Dan Heimiller flat-called from the small blind, and then Faraz Jaka reraised to 340,000 from the big blind. After Petrangelo folded, Heimiller quickly moved all in for 570,000. Jaka called with the {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and saw he was up against the {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} for Heimiller.

The flop gave Jaka trips when the {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{10-Diamonds} fell. The turn was the {4-Hearts} to leave Heimiller needing a king on the river, but he wouldn't find it when the {3-Hearts} completed the board.

With that, Heimiller was eliminated in eighth place for $162,700. Jaka climbed to 2.1 million in chips.

Three Tools of Tourneys

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Chips. Position. Cards. All matter in no-limit hold'em tourneys. The big stacks are bullying. Players are profiting from positional advantage. And the cards are doing their part, too, at the PCA Main Event final table, as described on the PokerStars Blog.

Petrangelo Bests Markholt

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Nick Petrangelo made it 80,000 to go and Lee Markholt called out of the cutoff. The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and both players checked to see the {Q-Clubs} fall on the turn. Petrangelo bet 100,000 and Markholt stuck around.

The {6-Spades} completed the board and both players checked. Petrangelo showed {10-Spades}{9-Spades} for queens and tens and he was awarded the pot.
