Reilly Loses a Little

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With 20,000 in the pot and the board showing {Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{K-Hearts}, Tim Reilly bet 9,000 and was called by his lone opponent. The river was the {10-Spades} and both players would check.

Reilly's opponent said "I missed my flush" and turned over {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Reilly tabled {A-}{2-} thinking he had won the pot with his ace high but then noticed that his opponent had a pair of nines. Reilly, who had a deep run at this years World Series of Poker Main Event, is still in good shape with 230,000 in chips despite the loss.

Herm Takes an Ugly Beat

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Mark Herm opened to 2,800 under the gun and saw Juan Etcheverry make it 7,400 in the small blind. Herm came back with 20,800, and his opponent pushed all in, putting Herm at risk for about 45,000 more. Herm made the call.

Herm: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Etcheverry: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The dealer spread an {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop, safe for Herm. The {j-Diamonds} brought some scary paint, but Herm was still good. A {q-Spades} river though, gave Etcheverry his three-outer.

We got to the table with the board showing {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and a bet of 13,000 sitting in front of world famous soccer star Ronaldo. He was up against one player, Ka Kwan Lau, who made the call.

The river was the {7-Diamonds} and Ronaldo led out for 20,000 this time. Lau asked the dealer how much it was and put out the call once he received confirmation of the amount.

Ronaldo turned over {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for jacks and tens and Lau mucked.

"Apparently he can play poker too," remarked a player at the table.
