Volpe Takes One From O'Dwyer

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Paul Volpe just raised to 750 and Steve O'Dwyer made the call from the blinds. The flop came down {2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs} and O'Dwyer check-called 1,000.

On the turn the {2-Clubs} hit and O'Dwyer checked to Volpe again, who bet 2,600. O'Dwyer called once more, but folded when Volpe bet 10,000 on the {Q-Spades} river.

Platonov Takes from Five Diamond Champ

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Kevin Eyster, who won the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $1,587,382 back in December, raised to 1,100 from the cutoff and Aleksei Platonov called from the button. Both blinds folded, the flop came down {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Spades}, and Eyster bet 1,400.

Platonov made the call, the dealer burned and turned the {A-Hearts}, and Eyster led out for 3,600. Platonov raised to 8,100, Eyster made the call, and it was off to the {3-Spades} river, which both players checked.

Eyster tabled the {10-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for a missed straight, and Platonov revealed the {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for two pair and the win.

Action Turn Cards Results in a Savard Double

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

We missed the action unfold, but we do know that Jean-Pascal Savard managed to get his remaining 39,725 all in on the turn with the board reading {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. Upon seeing his cards, as well as those of Yingui Li, it was no surprise to see why the chips went in.

Savard: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Li: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Savard held the stone nuts, but Li, who had an inferior straight, had both flush and a bigger straight draw to fall back on. Unfortunately for him, the {A-Spades} river was a blank and Savard was shipped the double.

No Chips, But Soup For Fernandez

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Leo Fernandez, while aggressively eating some soup, just called a raise to 1,000 and [Removed:17] three-bet from the small blind to 4,500. The initial raiser folded and Fernandez called, putting {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} out on the flop.

Yan bet 4,500 on the flop and after three spoons full of soup, Fernandez called.

The turn was the {K-Spades} and Yan bet another 8,000, which was called after quite some soup by Fernandez.

The river was the {2-Hearts} and while Fernandez vigorously ate his soup, Yan moved all in to put the Argentinian pro at risk.

Fernandez put his soup on hold, and after about a minute he threw forward chips, indicating he made the call.

Yan showed {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and he beat Fernandez's {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} to send the latter to the rail.
