Big Double for Qu

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Several minutes into the break, Boyuan Qu was in the tank on the {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{J-Hearts} board. His opponent, Gionni Demers, had put Qu all in, and Qu looked pained with his decision and a remaining stack of 89,100. The pot at the time was about 120,000 in chips.

Eventually, Qu made the call with the {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds} for top pair and a gutshot straight draw, but his decision was sped up a little bit thanks to Demers calling the clock. He was up against the {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for Demers, which was good for a pair of eights, a flush draw, and a straight draw.

Despite all the outs he held, Demers missed when the {6-Diamonds} hit the board on the river, and Qu won the pot.

"Tough call," Qu said to a friend watching the completion of the hand. "I thought he had queens or kings, or something. I can't fold there."

Walking Sticks Hold to Give PoMaret a Double

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

After David Robinson opened with a button raise, Michel PoMaret three-bet all in for 42,000 from the big blind. The call was made and it was a coin flip.

Robinson: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
PoMaret: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

PoMaret was looking to hold, which is just what he did after the board ran out a clean {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}.

A Possible Gift

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Karl Oddsen just took down a pot against Christopher Mcnamara, when he bet 26,000 on the river and Mcnamara folded.

The action started when Fedor Holz raised from early position to 4,000. Then Oddsen raised from the small blind to 13,000. Mcnamara called and Holz folded.

The flop came {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Oddsen bet 13,000. Mcnamara called and the two players saw the {3-Spades} hit the turn. They both checked.

The {5-Clubs} came on the river and Oddsen bet 26,000. Mcnamara didn't seem to want to fold, as it took him about two minutes in the tank to decide to fold.

"No gifts," said Mcnamara, "laying it down might have been a gift."

Kitai in Bad Shape

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We found Davidi Kitai with 18,000 in front of him in the big blind, pondering a decision for most of his stack on an {8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} board. Cutoff Thiago Nishijima had shipped it in for 70,100, and Kitai put in a stack of chips after thinking another two minutes or so.

Nishijima: {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Kitai: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Kitai needed a diamond against the made flush, and the {k-Clubs} was not enough help as it gave him a mere two pair. The three-time bracelet winner is in dire straits now.
