Chidwick Doubles with Big Slick

Level 3 : 150/300, 300 ante

Kevin Hobbs opened to 1,100 from early position and Stephen Chidwick called from the cutoff along with the button. Noah Schwartz three-bet to 4,500 from the small blind and Hobbs quickly called. Chidwick splashed in the rest of his 36,600 chips forcing the button to quickly fold. Schwartz called while Hobbs reluctantly gave up his hand.

Stephen Chidwick: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Noah Schwartz: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

The flop came {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs} giving Chidwick the lead with a pair of kings, while Hobbs went into a state of distress, stating he folded pocket tens. Meanwhile, Schwartz would be looking for a jack, and a jack only, to win the pot. The {9-Diamonds} on the turn provided him with some straight outs, but the {8-Spades} on the river bricked off and Chidwick scored a big double up.

Seymour Roughs Up Perry

Level 3 : 150/300, 300 ante

Richard Seymour raised to 1,100 from the cutoff and Sean Perry defended his big blind. The flop came {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {j-Spades} on the turn.

Perry led out for 1,600 and Seymour called to see the {3-Diamonds} on the river. Perry checked this time and Seymour tossed in a bet of 2,200. Perry quickly called and Seymour showed him the {j-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for trip jacks to scoop the pot.

Adams Applies Pressure

Level 3 : 150/300, 300 ante

There were about 8,500 chips in the pot and the board read {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} when we got to the table. Cliff Josephy bet 4,000 from the big blind and Timothy Adams called from the button.

The {9-Spades} fell on the river and Josephy checked. Adams bet 18,500, Josephy quickly folded, and Adams took the pot.

First Break of the Day

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

The first two levels here on Day 1 are in the books and the players have been sent on a 20-minute break. The field has climbed to 61 total entries with 58 players remaining.

Sontheimer Calls Down

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Isaac Haxton opened to 700 in the hijack and Jean-Noel Thorel three-bet to 1,800 in the cutoff. Steve O'Dwyer four-bet to 5,600 on the button and Steffen Sontheimer flat-called out of the small blind. Haxton folded and Thorel called to go three ways to the flop.

The dealer spread the flop of {6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and the action checked to O'Dwyer who continued for 8,000. Sontheimer called while Thorel folded.

The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {9-Diamonds} on the river. Sontheimer checked again and O'Dwyer pushed all in for 36,000. Sontheimer only had 31,500 remaining and quickly called off his stack. O'Dwyer smiled and turned over {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} and Sontheimer showed {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} to take down a big pot before the break.

Danchev Flops the Nuts and Doubles

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Ari Engel checked from the cutoff on a {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop and Dimitar Danchev bet 2,000 from the button into a pot of approximately 6,100. Engel called.

The {4-Diamonds} fell on the turn and Engel checked. Danchev bet again, 7,000 this time, and Engel check-raised to put Danchev to a decision for his stack. He instantly called.

Danchev: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Engel: {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Danchev held Broadway and Engel needed the final card to be a club in order to win the pot. The {J-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing, so Danchev took the chips for the double-up.
