Kruk Turns a Set

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

With just under 4,000 in the pot, the board read {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Christopher Kruk led out with an overbet of 4,600 from the big blind and Ryan Riess called from the cutoff.

The river brought the {2-Spades} and Kruk fired another overbet of 15,000. Riess thought for a moment and eventually threw in a few chips to call. Kruk tabled {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for a set of threes and Riess could do nothing but muck his hand.

Shak's Kings Best Lefrancois

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

With about 10,000 sitting in the middle and a board reading {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, Dan Shak bet 6,000 and Pascal Lefrancois check-called. The {7-Clubs} landed on the river and Lefrancois checked again. Shak bet 15,000 and after requiring a timebank chip, Lefrancois made the call.

Shal tabled the {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and Lefrancois mucked.

Lefrancois Flops a Flush to Double Up

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

Jonathan Jaffe opened on the button and Pascal Lefrancois defended his big blind. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Lefrancois checked to Jaffe who continued for 2,200. Lefrancois check-raised to 6,000 and Jaffe hung around.

The turn brought the {5-Hearts} and Lefrancois moved all in for 9,800 which prompted an instant call from Jaffe. Lefrancois showed {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a flush and Jaffe was drawing dead as he tabled {a-Spades}{8-Spades}. The insignificant {j-Clubs} completed the board and Lefrancois earned himself a double up.

Kenney Fires Twice

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

There were about 5,000 chips already in the middle and the board read {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts} when we got to the table. Action checked to Bryn Kenney in the cutoff and he bet 2,100. Jeff Gross called from the small blind and Nick Petrangelo folded from the big blind.

The turn brought the {9-Clubs} and Gross checked. Kenney bet again, 7,300 this time, Gross folded, and Kenney took the pot.

Jaffee's Failed Bluff Attempt

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

The action folded to Ben Heath on the button who raised to 1,600. Jared Jaffee in the small blind and Steve O'Dwyer in the big blind both called to see the flop of {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}.

Jaffee checked and O'Dwyer led out with a bet of 3,000. Heath quickly folded while Jaffee made the call. The turn brought the {7-Hearts} and this time Jaffee led out for 8,000. O'Dwyer called and the {6-Hearts} landed on the river.

Jaffee tossed in a single T25,000 chip and O'Dwyer did the same. Jaffee turned over {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a missed flush draw and O'Dwyer held {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for two pair to take down the pot.

Negreanu Busts Hunichen

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante
Chris Hunichen in a previous event
Chris Hunichen in a previous event

There were about 10,000 chips already in the pot and the board read {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} when we got to the table. Daniel Negreanu was in the small blind and facing a decision for 10,000 from Chris Hunichen, who recently entered during the last break and was under the gun. Negreanu raised to 80,000 and Hunichen called to put himself at risk.

"It's gonna be a quick one," said Hunichen as he tabled his hand.

Hunichen: {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Negreanu: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}

Negreanu found himself trailing Hunichen's top two pair, but when the {7-Diamonds} fell on the turn to pair the floor, he took the lead. Hunichen needed to improve on the river in order to survive, but the {J-Hearts} was no help to him, so Negreanu took the pot with aces up to send him to the rail.
