Katz Makes a Big Call

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Stephen Chidwick opened for 17,000 from early position and Cary Katz called from the cutoff. Justin Bonomo came along from the big blind and he and Chidwick checked on {8-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{7-Spades}. Katz bet 26,000 and Bonomo called, Chidwick folded.

Both players checked the {5-Spades} on the turn before the {3-Spades} completed the board. Bonomo bet 80,000 and Katz was visually frustrated. He wasn't too happy facing a bet, and used a time bank card before he eventually said: "I beat five-six."

A bit later, Katz called. Bonomo indeed showed {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, Katz took it down with {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}.

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Bill Perkins Eliminated

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

From middle position, Bill Perkins opened for 18,000. In the hijack, Bryn Kenney made it 62,000 to go which forced out the remaining players so action got back to Perkins. Perkins shoved for what appeared to be 119,000 total. Kenney called.

Bill Perkins: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Bryn Kenney: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Perkins wished the table good luck before exiting the tournament area.

Shak Doubles Through Hunichen

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Dan Shak
Dan Shak

Dan Shak opened under the gun for 20,000 and his neighbor Daniel Negreanu called. Chris Hunichen, right next to them, squeezed to 85,000 and action folded to Shak. Shak tanked for a bit before shoving for 225,000 total. Negreanu folded, Hunichen called.

Dan Shak: {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}
Chris Hunichen: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Negreanu admitted having had folded {A-Spades}{J-Spades}. Shak wasn't so sure about his chances, claiming jacks hadn't been his hand the last year.

Still, the board brought no trouble for Shak as he doubled on {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Hunichen now short.

Byron Kaverman Bites the Dust

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Byron Kaverman on Day 1
Byron Kaverman on Day 1

Up at the feature table before the three-table redraw, action folded to Chris "Big Huni" Hunichen in the small blind and he simply moved all in to put the pressure on the short-stacked Byron Kaverman, who called off for 85,000.

Kaverman: {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Hunichen: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

It was a flip, but Kaverman needed to improve to stay alive. That proved easier said than done as the board ran out a dry {6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

Big Slick Does't Do the Trick for Steffen Sontheimer

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Steffen Sontheimer's bust-out hand just aired on the live stream.

The German pro got his stack of 238,000 all in preflop and found himself in dire straits against Christopher Kruk.

Kruk: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Sontheimer: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Sontheimer needed a miracle, but that didn't happen as he was left drawing dead on the turn after an {8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} run out.

Negreanu Folds to Min-Raise Shove from Former Champ

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Jason Koon, who won this event last year, opened for 18,000 under the gun and Daniel Negreanu called from the button. Both blinds folded and it was heads-up action to the {5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop, which went check-check.

The {8-Spades} turn saw Koon check-call a bet of 35,000 and then he checked for a third time on the {7-Spades} river.

Negreanu bet 100,000, and Koon, who had 200,000 total behind, moved all in. It was only another 100K to "Kid Poker," but he didn't seem happy about the spot.

He used a time extension and then folded, later claiming he had turned a set.

Igor Kurganov was talking to Justin Bonomo and Mustapha Kanit over on one of the outer tables, conversing about the charity $26,000 Turbo event later today.

When he was done, we asked him how his tournament had come to an end. He was kind enough to share the details of his bust out.

Kurganov opened under the gun for 18,000 and saw his neighbor Ivan Luca three-bet to 51,000. Action folded back to Kurganov and he shoved for about 350,000. Luca called.

Ivan Luca: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Igor Kurganov: {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and Kurganov exited the tournament.
