Lim Finds a Favorable River

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Chin Wei Lim opened to 2,600 from under the gun and Nick Petrangelo stuck in a three-bet to 8,000 out of the small blind. Lim just called to see a flop of {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Petrangelo led out for 3,000 and Lim stuck around to see the {8-Spades} on the turn.

Petrangelo moved all in and Lim wasted no time in calling for the last of his 18,600 chips. Petrangelo tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} which was ahead of Lim's {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. The river brought the {k-Spades} to give Petrangelo two pair but Lim made a flush and doubled through.

Seiver Grooving to the Music Only

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Dario Sammartino raised it up on the button and Scott Seiver defended from the big blind. The flop came {q-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Seiver checked to Sammartino who continued for 3,800. Seiver called while his head was bopping to the music he was listening to.

The turn brought the {k-Spades} and Seiver checked again. Sammartino dropped in a bet of 8,800 and Seiver called again as his shoulder started to sway with his head. The river was the {4-Clubs} and Seiver checked one more time. Sammartino quickly checked back this time and Seiver turned over {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Sammartino tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a bigger pair and scooped the pot.

Cortes Wins Huge Race With Josephy

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Cliff Josephy was exiting his seat when we arrived at the table, having gotten all in for what looked like around 80,000 against neighbor Jesus Cortes and come out on the short end of a huge flip. Josephy had {q-}{q-} in front of him but Cortes had paired up with {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}.

Boeree Finds Call Button Before Break

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Dan Shak had moved all in for most of his chips, about 18,000 effective, from the small blind on a completed board of {2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. The pot contained about 70,000 before the jam, and button Liv Boeree was deep, deep in the tank as she used five time banks. Finally, she tossed a couple of chips in.

Shak looked mournfully at his hand then tabled {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, and Boeree showed {k-Spades}{6-Spades} for trips to take the pot.

Players are now on a 15-minute break.

Marques Binks the River

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Pedro Marques opened to 2,200 from early position and was called by Andras Nemeth on his left and Sosia Jiang in the big blind. The flop fell {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and the action checked around to the {3-Diamonds} on the turn.

Jiang checked again and Marques tossed in a bet of 3,200. Nemeth called and Jiang folded. The river was the {4-Spades} and Marques went for a larger size of 14,500. Nemeth quickly called and Marques turned over {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for a full house on the river. Nemeth was displeased with the outcome and his cards hit the muck.
