Last Break on Day 3 as 50 Players Remain

Level 22 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Six levels are over and the field of 207 hopefuls has been cut down all the way to the last 50. The last two to bust were Andrei Kurov and Dustin Dirksen, the former sent his stack over to Talal Shakerchi.

Kurov had moved all in after the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades} turn with {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} only to see Shakerchi snap-call with the {A-Clubs}{10-Spades} for trips tens. The {9-Spades} river was a blank and Kurov was done for the day.

All remaining players are now on a 30-minute break, two levels remain for tonight.

Li Busted After Liperis Gets There

Level 22 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Yan Li
Yan Li

With about 200,000 in the pot, Yan Li and Yiannis Liperis went to war with the former under the gun and the latter in late position on {5-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Spades}. It ended with Liperis all in for 815,000, calling a shove from Li.

Yan Li: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Yiannis Liperis: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}

The draw hit right away on the {9-Spades} turn. The river was a {k-Hearts} and Li took a picture of the hand, which devastated her stack down to 65,000. In the big blind for most of it the next hand, she busted out.

Back-to-Back Monster Pots for Koonce

Level 22 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Jason_Koonce

Picking up the action on the turn with around 350,000 already in the middle, the board read {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. Jason Koonce led out for 225,000 from the big blind and Mustapha Kanit called from the button. The river was the {10-Clubs} and Koonce quickly shoved all in, putting Kanit to the test for his remaining 515,000 chips. The Italian thought for a minute but eventually, let his hand go.

In the very next hand, Christoph Vogelsang moved all in for 335,000 in early position and Kanit also ripped all in for 515,000 in the cutoff. Koonce looked down at his cards in the small blind and re-shoved all in as well.

Jason Koonce: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Mustapha Kanit: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Christoph Vogelsang: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Koonce was in line for another massive pot heading his way and the flop of {j-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} left him well out front. The {9-Diamonds} on the turn gave Vogelsang a straight draw but the {5-Clubs} on the river gave Koonce the double knockout and a massive stack of chips.

The Eliminations Keep Pouring In

Level 22 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Adrian Echave
Adrian Echave

Within a matter of five minutes, more than half a dozen players were eliminated and the field was cut down at an alarming pace. Among those to bust were Patrick "IrEgption" Tardif, Bryan Piccioli, Ajay Chabra and Ryan Riess.

Tardif faced the raise to 50,000 by Adrian Echave Samu in the hijack and the shove of Damien Le Goff in the cutoff for 100,000. Tardif reshoved for 320,000 and the Spaniard snap-called.

Damien Le Goff: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Patrick Tardif: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Adrian Echave Samu: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The board of {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{8-Spades} ensured a triple up for Le Goff, Tardif was no more.

Andrii Grynechko then lost a flip with {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} versus {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} as the board of {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} provided no help.

Koonce Coolers Dirksen for Piles

Level 22 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

We didn't see exactly how things went down, but Jason Koonce was doubling through Dustin Dirksen with the cards on their backs and {8-Spades}{9-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades} on the felt. The players had played the pot from the first two positions, Dirksen having turned a straight with {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and Koonce having hit the nuts with {k-Spades}{q-Spades}. Dirksen sent over a double for all but 130,000.

"That was unlucky," someone said.

"Yeah, it was, but I got lucky earlier," Dirksen said. "I mean, I didn't have to three-bet."

Baumstein Takes One Postflop

Level 22 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

After an open to 55,000 and two calls, Scott Baumstein made it 225,000 in the big blind. The opener mucked but flatters in the cutoff and small blind called. Julien Martini checked the {10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop and Baumstein bet 335,000. The cutoff mucked after some thought. Martini took some time to think before following suit.
