A Few River Bets and Their Outcomes

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Action was heads up with nearly 40,000 in the pot and {j-Spades}{7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs} on the board when Alex Kulev checked. Martin Zamani bet 29,000 before Kulev check-raised to 200,000, and it was too much for Zamani so he tossed it in the muck.

Meanwhile, there was over 40,000 in a pot between Stefan Lehner and David Peters with a board showing {4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Lehner was deep in the tank after Peters shoved with more. After the clock was called, Lehner gave up the pot at the buzzer.

Maria Konnikova checked a full board of {10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} with 140,000 in the pot before Joseph Drory bet 60,000. Konnikova called and turned over {k-Spades}{10-Spades} for kings and tens, but Drory showed {q-Clubs}{j-Spades} to take the pot with a straight.

Grafton Holds to Double

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Sam Grafton
Sam Grafton

On the feature table, Lucas Landa opened to 6,000 from the cutoff with the {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} before Sam Grafton three-bet to 21,000. Landa then jammed as the big stack and Grafton called off his remaining 57,000.

Grafton's pocket pair stayed ahead following the {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop but the {10-Diamonds} turn gave Landa a gutshot to Broadway as well as a flush draw. The {10-Clubs} river was a safe card for Grafton and he doubled up.

Pascal Lefrancois was all in for around 80,000 and Alberto Meran was the one to put him at risk. The cards were already turned up and the dealer was ready to go.

Pascal Lefrancois: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Alberto Meran: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Lefrancois was way ahead, but the board ran out {6-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Meran flopped the needed trey to send him to the rail.

O'Dwyer Jams on Gathy; Gathy Then Ousts Stamm

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Michael Gathy
Michael Gathy

Steve O'Dwyer opened from the hijack to 6,500 and was called by Michael Gathy and David Stamm from the blinds.

O'Dywer continued for 13,500 on the {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop after the action was checked to him. Gathy then raised to 37,500 which folded out Stamm. O'Dwyer responded by jamming in his stack which Gathy wasn't too pleased about.

After asking for a count, which was confirmed at 128,500, Gathy ended up folding.

The very next hand, David Peters opened to 7,000 and Gathy made it 17,000 from the button. Stamm, now in the small blind, moved all in for 114,000. Peters folded and Gathy asked for a count and decided to call.

David Stamm: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Michael Gathy: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

"Uh oh," said Stamm as the cards were tabled and there was more reason to worry as Gathy made two pair on the {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop. No miracle runout would arrive to save Stamm and he was eliminated before the money after the dealer completed the board with the {2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

PokerStars Ambassadors Grafton and Colillas Clash

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Ramon Colillas
Ramon Colillas

Inaugural PSPC winner Ramon Colillas opened to 6,000 with his {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} from the cutoff and called after Sam Grafton made it 27,000 with {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} from the small blind.

Grafton continued for 20,000 on the {8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and was called. The turn brought in the {2-Clubs} and Grafton fired a second bet of 50,000 and again Collias called.

The {2-Diamonds} completed the board and Grafton still had the best hand. Grafton fired out for 60,000, leaving 3,000 behind. Colillas found the fold after several minutes of tanking and Grafton won the battle of the ambassadors.

Kiles Doubles Through Wilson

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Cassio Kiles moved all in from the cutoff for 23,500 and was called by Andy Wilson in the small blind.

Cassio Kiles: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Andy Wilson: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}

It was a flip for Kiles' tournament life. The flop came {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts} offering no help. The {4-Diamonds} turn was a blank, but the river brought the {a-Clubs} to give Kiles a crucial double up which left Wilson with under ten big blinds.
