Multi-Table Satellite Tournament

Day 1 Completed

2019 PNPC Satellite is in the Books

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

After about six and half hours of play, the satellite is now in the books with 27 players booking tickets to the Main Event plus the $600 NLHE, for a total package worth $1,700, while the 28th place player booked a ticket to the Main Event worth $1,100 plus $90.

A total of 277 entries tried their hand at the prizes, and 1 player in 10 was going to win tickets to future events. Action went very quickly for the first few levels after registration closed, with the field falling from 199 down to just 40 left in a few hours. As play got closer to the money bubble though, play slowed down quite a bit, and it took several levels to finally burst the bubble.

Play went hand for hand with 30 players left, and things slowed down even more. There was a deal to pay the 29th place player, but even that didn't speed things up much. Eventually though, they finally made it down to the full prizes.

Hartree Hits Quads to Burst the Bubble

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Having everyone covered at the table, Kyle Hartree opened jammed from early position for 200,000. He got a call from James Boyd in the hijack. Boyd started the hand with 85,000 and was at risk heading into a coin flip.

Hartree: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Boyd: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The flop gave Hartree trips {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades}. The turn gave Boyd two more outs as he picked up a straight flush and royal flush draw {10-Clubs}. Hartree improved his hand to quads on the river as the {k-Hearts} came and sent Boyd out on the stone bubble.

Gross Eliminates One

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Brad Gross limped in from the small blind and the big blind checked his option. The flop came {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. Gross checked and his opponent went all in for 8,000. With 25,000 already in the middle Gross made the call and the players turned their cards over.

Gross: {k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Opponent: {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

The turn gave Gross some more outs {9-Hearts} and the river counterfeited his opponent {q-Spades}. Gross sent his opponent to the rail and the players are now on the stone bubble with 29 remaining.

Imperial Doubles through Hartree

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Action folded to Anthony Imperial in the cutoff, and he shoved his remaining 20,000 chips to the middle. It folded to Kyle Hartree on the big blind, and he made a quick call. Imperial's {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} was good enough to hold and he secured the double.

Action has now gone hand for hand with 30 players left, and will remain hand for hand until there are 27 players left.

Silva Avoids Elimination

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Action folded to the small blind who went all in. Rodrigo Silva was in the big blind and called off his remaining 6,000 after already having 8,000 committed.

Silva: {6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

Silva was in rough shape but took the lead after the flop came {9-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Silva was able to fade a king on the turn and river as the board completed {2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}.

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Here are a few of the bigger stacks in the room on break. There are just 31 players remaining in action with 27 full tickets available, and $1,190 for 28th place, so three more players will go home empty-handed tonight.
