Soon after he didn't take a spot for a potential large pot, Won Jae Lee defended the big blind and got it in after the K♠Q♦J♦A♦ turn against Wooseok Kim from under the gun.

On a heads-up flop of A♣7♣5♥, former big stack Yicun Ma reluctantly called all-in with a shorter stack after Gai Lax Lim had pushed all-in.

The 9♠ turn provided more outs to Ma but he missed them all on the 10♥ river.
Alan Tsang jammed for 45,000 on the button and William Tsang rejammed out of the small blind with the far bigger stack. Won Jae Lee in the big blind sighed after he had checked his cards and even flashed the A♣J♠ to everyone at the table before floor staff reminded him that was not allowed.
"Come on, let's gamble," Teoh grinned and Lee was pained by his decision. He tanked another minute and folded.

Tsang groaned as the board ran out A♦5♣4♠Q♣10♠, after which Tsang survived thanks to the river. "Good fold bro," Tsang joked to Lee to rub it in even more.
On the tail end of a K♠Q♣2♣10♦4♦ board, Ricardo Torres checked out of the small blind. Hui Shen Mok made it 20,000 to go and Torres called to get shown the A♦J♣ for broadway by Mok, which left the local player on the ropes with just ten big blinds.
William Teoh raised to 10,000 and then called the all-in of Chuck Choi for 37,000 after Wai Keong Yong had tank-folded, mentioning in the table chat he had ace-five.

The board ran out J♣8♠4♣6♦7♦ and they chopped it up.
Soon after, Choi was all-in again and this time, Yong didn't fold.

Junho Kim defended his big blind against an under-the-gun raise by Harun Mzb, who proceeded to fire three barrels. The A♦K♠6♥ flop was check-called by Kim for 18,000 and he did so again for 40,000 on the 2♠ turn.
After the Q♣ river, Kim checked the third street in a row and Mzb now fired another 80,000. More than two minutes passed before Kim called and was shown the A♥K♥ for the top two pair, exposing A♠6♠ for an inferior two pair and the missed nut flush draw.
Won Jae Lee was all-in with the dominated A♦6♥ and up against fellow countryman Wooseok Kim, who revealed the A♥K♣.
Lee had a ton of outs on the J♦8♦3♦ flop and got there with the K♦ turn to make the 6♠ river a formality. The double up was for 48,000 and Lee instantly thanked the dealer with an "I love you".
Winfred Yu was spotted all-in and at risk for more than 20 big blinds and Harun Mzb looked him up from the next seat, to which he had just been moved to after the previous table broke.

The dominated pair never caught up on the A♥4♦3♠4♥8♥ board and Yu was eliminated on the final four tables of Day 1a.
Former big stack Tien Thanh Dinh was all-in with a short stack and turned over the 6♥6♠ in showdown. He was up against Junho Kim with the Q♣J♥ and fell behind almost immediately on the Q♠7♦2♠ flop.
The 9♥ turn left Dinh with two outs and the 5♦ river was not among them. Almost at the same time, Valeriy Pak was eliminated as well to bring the field down to the last 32 hopefuls.
