Lee Takes Out Yau, Luyckx Surfing the Short Stack

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Preston Lee
Preston Lee

Hong Kong's Winson Yau came into Day 2 as one of the larger stacks with 185,000 but these chips have all been frittered away over the last four levels. The man who got the majority of them is none other than World Series bracelet winner Preston Lee.

Lee was the initial aggressor, opening to 6,500 from middle position, with Yau three-betting to 20,000 on the button. Lee did not take long to shove and Yau tossed in a single blue 5k chip to represent the call and put himself at risk for his last 70,000 or so.

Preston Lee: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Winson Yau: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

While Yau had a hand, Lee's was better and there was no ace or jack to be seen on the {5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} run out, meaning Lee's full house was enough to bust Yau and stack up to 160,000.

Belgium's Bart Luyckx is on the other end of the chip spectrum but is holding onto his tournament life with a firm grip and managed to spin his three big blind stack up to close to what he began the day with.

Following some early action, Luyckx got his last three big blinds in from the button with nine-deuce, beating two players holding ace-king and ace-queen respectively after pairing his deuce and is sitting on a stack of 31,000 presently.

Cohen Busted by Sun

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Samantha Cohen shoved for 7,600 from under the gun right after she had doubled up Jian Han. Li Wei Sun was sitting on the button and checked out the stacks of the players in the blinds. He then proceeded to put his whole stack of blue 5,000-value chips over the line. The blinds quickly folded.

Samantha Cohen: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Li Wei Sun: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

The flop came {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{A-Spades} for Sun to hit trip aces, Cohen needed to hit a runner-runner for the straight to stay alive but the {5-Hearts} on the turn meant she was drawing dead. The {3-Spades} on the river was just a formality and Cohen was sent away from the tournament area.

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

We missed how it happened and only arrived in the aftermath, but Duan Chao's stack was being shipped over to Wen Yao Bao, who is now sitting on a sizable 320,000, making him the current top dog, while Chao is out.

Cohen Short, Song on Top

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Samantha Cohen
Samantha Cohen

Samantha Cohen raised to 5,100 from early position and Jian Han three-bet to 12,800 in mid-position. Action folded back to Cohen who shoved. Han snap-called with the slightly shorter stack.

Jian Han: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}
Samantha Cohen: {A-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{a-Spades} to give Han a set of aces.

The turn brought them the {2-Clubs} which gave Cohen a chance to chop the pot if a straight came on the board.

The river completed the board with the {2-Diamonds} and Han improved to a full house to double up. After counting both their stacks, Cohen was left only 8,000.

Gao Doubles Through Mak

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Anthony Mak
Anthony Mak

Wenling Gao and Anthony Mak have clashed in a few pots already today, and while Mak had been getting the best of this previously, Gao took all her chips back with interest when the two tangled in the following hand.

It was Mak the instigator, making it 5,500 from the cutoff, with the small blind making the call, before Gao popped it up to 20,000 from the big blind. Mak slid out a tower of blue 5k chips for a bet of 100,000 to effectively put Gao all-in, and the Chinese player called off her 93,000 stack and the cards went on their backs.

Anthony Mak: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Wenling Gao: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Mak had a pair, but so did Gao, and hers was bigger with the {10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{10-Spades} runout locking in the double and she climbed to 186,000. Mak still has a healthy 155,000 behind.

Yang Rails Qiu

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

China's Han Wei Qiu has become one of the more recent casualties, departing at the hands of tablemate Dong Zhe Yang with the pair getting all the chips in pre-flop.

It was Yang the man to pull the trigger first with the covering stack and {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades} with Qiu making a stand with {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}.

The {k-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop was a good one for pocket tens, but Yang paired his jack on the {j-Diamonds} turn, and the {4-Clubs} river was the last card that Qiu would see dealt in the Main Event. Qiu is out while Yang is up to 120,000.

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Michael Woo raised to 5,500 from the hijack and Lai Heng Tse shoved for 20,100 in total from the small blind. Woo cut out calling chips and played with them a bit before making the call.

Lai Heng Tse: {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{K-Clubs} for Tse to hold with his high card for the double-up.
