Lin Gets the Hot Seat to Bust Gao

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Wenling Gao
Wenling Gao

A table move was insufficient to get Shi Qiang Lin out of the hot seat, with the Chinese player moving to table one over on the feature podium. Wenling Gao probably wishes he'd stayed where he was previously, with Lin sending her to the rail after the pair clashed in a blind on blind confrontation.

We picked up the action on a flop of {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts} after Gao moved all-in from the small blind over the top of a Lin bet. The Chinese player decided to roll the dice and made the call and the cards were turned over.

Shi Qiang Lin: {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Wenling Gao: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Gao held a slender lead with top pair against the open-ended straight draw of Lin, and while he didn't hit that, running diamonds on the {3-Diamonds} turn and {4-Diamonds} river gave him a backdoor flush to bring Gao's Main Event run to an end, while Lin stacked up to 730,000 with 68 players remaining.

Lin Gets Rid of Qin

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Shi Qiang Lin
Shi Qiang Lin

Rui Qin shoved all in for 91,000 from early position and so did Shi Qiang Lin from mid-position. The rest all quickly got out of their way.

Rui Qin: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Shi Qiang Lin: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The board ran out {J-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for Lin to hit his ace on the turn to eliminate Qin from the tournament.

With 70 players left right now, the bubble is approaching soon.

Play Tightening Up

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

There have been plenty of raises in the last 10-minutes since the blinds climbed, but not all that many flops with a lot of the remaining field playing push or fold.

Antonio Martins took the blinds and antes from the lojack, but was shut down in the hijack by Hong Yin Lin when he raised for the second hand in a row.

The tension in the room is rising and the short stacks know that they are on the clock, it's time to go big, or go home.

More Eliminations

Blinds: 3,000/6,000

Last Break of the Day

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The tournament clock shows 73 players remaining, and these lucky few have headed off for the last 10-minute break of the day as the purple 500-chips are colored up and raced off.

There was a little pushing and shoving before play halted, but nothing came of it, with the player to pull the trigger first taking down the pot every time. It is unlikely that this status quo will continue and just nine more players need to hit the rail to guarantee the rest an HKD 27,900 (~$3,500) payday.

Lim Takes Wong Out

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Carson Ka Shing Wong
Carson Ka Shing Wong

Carson Ka Shing Wong has just been eliminated by Richard Lim.

Wong shoved from mid-position with {K-}{J-} for 61,500 and was called by Lim in the big blind with {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} to not provide any help to Wong and he was sent to the rail before the bubble has even started.

Latest Selection of Chip Counts

Tang Hits to Rail Lyu

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Yue Feng Tang
Yue Feng Tang

Yue Feng Tang is the in-form player and is catching cards at the perfect time to cement his chip lead, railing the unfortunate Shao Xin Lyu after a battle of the blinds.

We only arrived in time to catch the aftermath, but it looked as though Lyu had moved in pre-flop for close to 100,000 from the small blind, with Tang making the call.

Lyu's hand was already in the muck, with the community cards spread {q-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{x-} with Tang holding {k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for two pair to take down the pot and bring Lyu's Main Event to a close.
