Cary Katz Doubles Through Dan Smith

Level 9 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Cary Katz moved all in for his last 32,000 from the cutoff and Dan Smith, who is sitting on a mountain of chips, called him from the small blind.

Katz: {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Smith: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}

It was a flip, but Katz was in need of improvement. He did just that when the {q-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Clubs} flop paired his eight. Neither the {7-Clubs} turn nor {3-Spades} river was the six Smith needed and he sent Katz over a small portion of his stack.

Negreanu Climbing

Level 9 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Daniel Negreanu opened to 9,000 from under the gun, and both Fedor Holz and Sergio Aido called in the blinds.

The flop landed {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and all three players checked to see the {6-Hearts} land on the turn.

Holz led out for 9,500 and Aido folded as Negreanu called.

The river landed the {5-Hearts} and after a Holz check, Negreanu pushed out a stack of 100,000 to force Holz to a decision for his last 36,500.

Eventually Holz opted for a fold, and Negreanu collected the pot to move to 390,000 in chips.

Poker Masters Champs Collide

Level 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante

After being left with 5,000 in chips, Poker Masters Event #1 champ Nick Schulman managed a triple and a double to bring it up to nearly 40,000. Unfortunately for him, that is where his comeback ended.

He got his stack all in preflop holding the {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} only to run it smack dab into the {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} of Event #2 champ Steffen Sontheimer.

Schulman was looking for a three, but he was left wanting as the board ran out {5-Spades}{7-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Schulman was on his second bullet, which means we won't be seeing him anymore here in Event #3.

Winter Eliminated, Schulman Crippled, Sontheimer Surging

Level 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante
Steffen Sontheimer
Steffen Sontheimer

The action folded to Sean Winter on the button, and he moved all in for 39,500. Event #2 Champion Steffen Sontheimer moved all in from the small blind for 117,000, and with the action on Event #1 Champion Nick Schulman, he pushed all in also.

Winter: {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Sontheimer: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Schulman: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

The dealer spread a {5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts} board to see Sontheimer flop a full house to eliminate Winter, while also doubling through Schulman to leave him with just 5,000 in chips.

Scott Seiver's Failed River Bluff

Level 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante

We didn't pick up the action until the river with a board reading {3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts}. It appeared that Adrian Mateos had checked and Scott Seiver stabbed at it by moving all in for his last 53,000.

Mateos thought for a bit before calling with the {j-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for nines and fours, which was good as Seiver had been bluffing with the {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}.

Seiver immediately made his way to the desk to re-enter.

Stephen Chidwick Doubles Through Layne Flack

Level 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante

The preflop action escaped us, but we do know that Stephen Chidwick got his stack of 121,000 all in preflop and was flipping with Layne Flack.

Chidwick: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Flack: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Chidwick got it in good, and he held after the board ran out a clean {q-Spades}{4-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

Meanwhile, Fedor Holz has jumped back into action.

Sergio Aido Straightens Out Fedor Holz

Level 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante
Sergio Aido
Sergio Aido

In the last hand of Level 7, Sergio Aido raised to 7,000 under the gun and Fedor Holz, fresh off finishing runner-up in Event #2, came along from the small blind. Cary Katz did the same from the big blind and three players saw a flop of {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}.

Two checks saw Aido continue for 8,000 and only Holz called to see the {6-Diamonds} turn, which he checked. Aido bet again, this time 46,000, and Holz called.

When the {10-Spades} completed the board on the river, Holz checked for a third time and Aido moved all in. Holz called off with {a-}{10-} for two pair, but it was no good as Aido had rivered Broadway with his {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.
