Mateos Pushes Nitsche Off

Level 2 : 500/1,000, 1,500 ante

On a flop of {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, Dominik Nitsche checked from the cutoff to Adrian Mateos who made a bet of 13,000 on the button. Nitsche made the call and the {4-Hearts} peeled off on the turn.

Nitsche checked again and Mateos continued for 40,000. Nitsche stuck around to see the {8-Spades} hit the river.

For the third time, Nitsche checked the action over to his opponent and Mateos ripped all-in for 112,000. Nitsche disgustedly threw his cards away and started explaining the situation to his fellow German, Stefan Schillhabel.

Doug Polk Eliminated by Steffen Sontheimer

Level 2 : 500/1,000, 1,500 ante
Doug Polk
Doug Polk

Doug Polk opened to 3,000 and Steffen Sontheimer three-bet the small blind to 13,000. Polk called, and the dealer spread a {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop.

Sontheimer bet out 9,500 and Polk called as the turn landed the {9-Hearts}.

Sontheimer checked, and Polk bet out 19,500, as Sontheimer called and checked when the river landed the {J-Clubs}.

Polk pushed all in, and Sontheimer called.

Polk revealed his {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a straight, but it would be Sontheimer's {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} for the second nut flush that would see him eliminate Polk and send his stack to over 300,000 in chips.

Dan Smith Takes It on the Turn

Level 2 : 500/1,000, 1,500 ante

Seth Davies raised to 2,500 from the cutoff and Dan Smith called from the button. Both blinds folded and it was heads-up action to the flop, which came down {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}.

Davies check-called a bet of 4,000 and then checked for a second time on the {3-Spades} turn. Smith upped his bet to 12,000, and that did the trick as Davies released.

Level 2 : 500/1,000, 1,500 ante

With around 30,000 in the middle, the dealer fanned the flop of {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Justin Bonomo led out for 10,000 from the small blind and Bryn Kenney called on the button.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} and Bonomo bet again for 25,000. Kenney continued to call and the {10-Diamonds} completed the board.

For the third time, Bonomo initiated the action with a bet of 25,000. Kenney tossed in a single chip to call and Bonomo rolled over {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. Kenney nodded his head and slid his cards forward to the muck.

Aido Holds Off Until the River

Level 2 : 500/1,000, 1,500 ante

Sergio Aido raised to 2,500 from the hijack and was called by Rainer Kempe on the button along with Dan Smith in the big blind. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and the action was checked to the {10-Hearts} on the turn.

All three players checked again and the {9-Diamonds} landed on the river. Smith checked one more time but Aido finally fired 8,000 into the pot. Kempe and Smith quickly pushed their cards away and Aido scooped the pot.

Dan Smith has lost half of his 200,000 starting chips in the first level and Fedor Holz has been stacking chips over on Table 2.

David Peters Continues to Build

Level 2 : 500/1,000, 1,500 ante

David Peters raised to 2,500 under the gun and Erik Seidel called from the cutoff. Justin Bonomo and Cary Katz came along from the small and big blinds respectively, and four players took a flop of {q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}.

Two checks saw Peters continue for 6,000, and only Bonomo called to see the {A-Hearts} turn. Bonomo checked and then folded when Peters bet again, this time 12,000.
