Another Rough Exit for Mateos
The third $10k event of the Poker Masters schedule drew 78 runners for a prize pool of $780,000.
Adrian Mateos had a brutal exit on the money bubble of Event #1 as he had aces cracked, and it was deja vu today as Mateos found himself all in on the bubble with another premium. The Spanish crusher's Big Slick couldn't stay ahead of the jack-nine of Michael Rossitto, who flopped to pair to seal the deal on another bubble for Mateos.
Despite bubbling two of three events, Mateos is still up this series. That's because the GPI 2026 Money Leader finished runner up Event #2: $10,500 NLH for $151,200 as Nicholas Palma won his first PokerGO title.
Mateos' exit allowed short stack Darren Rabinowitz to sneak into the money, but the two-time bracelet winner was out a few hands later in a double knockout that at the hands of Gheba that also saw Nicholas Seward hitting the rail.
Next out was high-stakes star Jesse Lonis, who had top pair and a flush draw but couldn't pull ahead of the flopped set of Shorr.
Filipp Khavin, who won two PokerGO Cup events earlier this year, was next out as he ran into Ausmus' pocket queens to fall in ninth place. Event #1 champion Myles Mullaly hit the rail not long after that.
Rossitto was the final elimination of the day as his ace-five couldn't pull ahead of the pocket jacks of Shorr.
Day 2 will get underway at 11:45 a.m. local time on Thursday on Level 18 with blinds of 25,000/50,000/50,000. PokerNews will report on a delay alongside the stream, which is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m.
Each returning player is guaranteed a payout of at least $39,000, while the grand prize of $218,400 and the miniature purple jacket trophy await the eventual champion.
