Nicholas Palma was all in for his final chips in a heads-up pot against Daniel Negreanu on a board of 2♦J♥3♦2♠. The two waited patiently as the next table caught up before the cards were flipped.
Nicholas Palma: A♠Q♦
Daniel Negreanu: 6♠6♥
"Mathematically it feels like I'm due to hit a hand," Palma said. But instead, the river brought the 6♦ to improve Negreanu to a full house as the Event #2 champion was sent out on the soft bubble.
"Good luck you f***s," Palma said as he left the Studio.
Daniyal Gheba was all in for around 400,000 against Nicholas Palma.
Daniyal Gheba: A♦Q♦
Nicholas Palma: J♥J♦
Gheba got no help from the 5♠8♥9♣ flop or K♥ turn, but the A♠ river arrived right on time to earn him a double.
"They always take it from me," Palma said after being left short. "But I'm still going to win."
Soft hand-for-hand play is underway after the elimination of Cary Katz at the feature table.
There are ten players remaining and just eight spots paid.
Jesse Lonis was down to crumbs earlier in the level, but he has doubled multiple times for a miraculous spin-up.
Most recently, Lonis was seen doubling with A♠K♣ on a board of K♠6♠J♠4♣2♦10♦ against Brandon Wilson, whose hand had already been mucked.
Level: 14
Blinds: 10,000/20,000
Ante: 20,000
Jesse Lonis moved all in from under the gun for 60,000 and Sean Perry folded before speculating that table chip leader Nicholas Seward would probably fold his big blind to keep the bubble pressure alive.
"Will you stop being so sharp for one second?" David Coleman said sarcastically as Seward called.
Nicholas Seward: 10♣4♣
Jesse Lonis: J♦9♥
"I guess you do want to bust him," Perry said after seeing Seward's hand.
The board ran out 3♣7♦2♥10♥J♣, giving Seward a short-lived lead on the turn before the river brought Lonis a double.
Brandon Wilson raised to 35,000 on the button and Jesse Lonis called in the big blind.
Lonis checked on the flop of 3♠K♥8♠ and Wilson continued for 15,000. Lonis folded.
Keith Lehr won't be playing at a second final table today.
The Event #9 champion was eliminated at the feature table and hit the rail after grabbing his trophy and purple Poker Masters hat.
