Platt in Control

Level 5 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

David Stamm opened in middle position and Jeff Platt called on the button as the big blind also came along.

The flop of A53 checked through and action checked to Platt on the 2 turn. He bet 21,000 — perhaps a nod to Tim Duncan from his home state of Texas — to bring folds from both opponents.

Foxen Raises Three Straight Hands

Level 4 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Alex Foxen opened to 5,500 in middle position and everyone folded. The next hand, Foxen again opened to 5,500 and Jeremy Becker defended his big blind before quickly check-folding to a flop bet.

The next hand, Foxen again raised to 5,500 and the player in the next seat called before Qinghai Pan three-bet to 21,000 in the cutoff. Both opponents folded without a fight.

Tice Feels the Love

Level 4 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Landon Tice
Landon Tice

Jeremy Ausmus opened to 5,000 in early position and Shannon Shorr three-bet to 13,500 in late position, but all attention was on the incredibly esoteric conversation between Landon Tice and Alex Foxen about spirituality, love and rules.

"Love fulfills all rules," proclaimed Tice. "When you think about the Law of Moses ..."

"Aw, save it," said Jeremy Becker to his right.

"So we are just writing Beatles songs now?" added Foxen.

Ausmus called Shorr's three-bet and checked as the flop landed 844. Shorr bet 11,000 and Ausmus called. Meanwhile, Tice was still talking spirituality.

"The covenant is only fulfilled with Jesus ..."

Ausmus checked on the K river and Shorr bet 40,000 as Tice declared that "We think we know love ... but that's the faith part."

Ausmus folded and turned his attention to Tice with the rest of the table, joining in on the conversation that apparently began with a question about WSOP Europe.

"So ... Prague was good, then?" asked Ausmus.
