Dye Ridden Out of Here

The betting action was unclear for the hand, but when we wander over, we see that Shane Dye is all in against David Saab. Saab's hand reads {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}, while Dye tables {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}.

The board shows {10-Clubs} {9-Spades} {8-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}, and jockey Shane Dye is eliminated. Saab finds his set of tens, and he has chipped up to 34,000 just before the first break.

By the Numbers

We have just received the final numbers from the tournament staff, and it's 169 players who have entered today's flight. We are told there are already 130 runners on the list for tomorrow, and that number is growing fast. Most of the direct buy-ins are coming to play tomorrow as well, and there is still one big mega-satellite that will run tonight. If the numbers hold, we are bound to have at least 400 total players here in the Main Event. Last year's event drew 428 entrants, and we hope to eclipse that number here in 2008.

Felipe Ain't E-mad

Emad Tahtouh just tangled with Filipe Pacheco in a big preflop confrontation. Pacheco ended up getting all 4,500 of his chips into the pot, and Tahtouh was right there with him, having Pacheco well covered.

Showdown:
Pacheco: {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}
Tahtouh: {K-Diamonds} {K-Spades}

The flop managed to trip up both players as it fell {K-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {9-Spades}. Despite finding a nine, Pacheco was left drawing extremely slim to Tahtouh's set of kings. The turn added a few more outs for him though, as the {10-Clubs} gave him a flush draw as well. Sure enough, the {7-Clubs} drilled the river, giving Pacheco the unlikely come-from-behind win, and doubling him up to 9,000. Tahtouh is down to 17,000.

More Action from Saab

We join another pot on the flop over on David Saab's table. The board shows {8-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {4-Spades}. Action is checked around to Saab, and he puts out 500 chips. Antonio Fazzolari and Adam Wansley make the call.

Fourth street comes the {Q-Spades}. It's checked once again to Saab who keeps the pressure on, this time with 1,000 chips. Both opponents call once more.

The river is the {9-Spades}. Check, check, and Saab bets 3,000. Fazzolari makes the call while Wansely decides he's had enough and lets his hand go.

Saab announces, "Flush!" as he turns over {7-Spades} {8-Spades}. His flopped pair turned into five spades by the river, and it's good enough to win him the pot. He is up to 32,000 chips.

Roberts Flops Two

Five players limped into the pot, content to see a cheap flop. It brought {K-Clubs} {9-Spades} {4-Spades}. The small blind checked, and Benjamin Roberts bet 500. Two players folded, while James Giannoukos made the call. The small blind ducked out as well, and it was heads up to the turn.

Fourth street was the {5-Diamonds}. Roberts bet 1,250, and Giannoukos again called.

The river came the {J-Hearts}. Roberts kept the heat on, putting out another 2,200 chips. Giannoukos wasn't going anywhere. He called, and Roberts flipped over {9-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}. Giannoukos flashed the {K-Spades} and flipped both of his cards into the muck, as Roberts pulled in a nice little pot with his flopped two pair.

Chrisanthopoulous' Courageous Call

With the board reading {J-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}, Julian Cohen put out a bet of 3,100 into the already healthy pot. The action was then with Michael Chrisanthopoulous who went into the tank for a good five minutes before making the call.

Cohen sheepishly revealed {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for just ace-high as Chrisanthopoulous tabled {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} for the best hand! A great call from Chrisanthopoulous who will be looking for a repeat of his 3rd place finish in the Main Event of this year's Aussie Millions. He's now up to 29,000.

Tony, Tony, Tony

Tony Hachem is down to 14,175 in chips early on after losing a big pot to Daniel Neilson.

On a flop of {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, Hachem check-raised a 1,200 bet from Neilson, making it 3,050 to play. Neilson made the call.

The turn delivered the {8-Clubs} and Hachem checked once more to Neilson who fired a bet of 5,550. Tony then tanked for a moment but eventually folded, conceding the hand to Neilson, who now has 26,500 in chips.

Mordaunt Flushes Saab

David Saab opened the pot with a raise once more, and this time he found five callers.

The flop came {10-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}. Action was checked around through Saab to Peter Mordaunt, and he shoved all 6,000 of his chips in. When it folded back around to Saab, he announced, "I snap-call!" and matched his declaration by moving his calling chips in. He turned over {K-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}, while Mordaunt was drawing with his {A-Clubs} {4-Clubs}.

The turn was a useless {10-Diamonds}, but the {J-Clubs} nailed the river, making Mordaunt his nut flush. He doubles up through Saab, climbing back to 15,000 courtesy of that friendly river card.
