Saab the Master

David Saab raised to 300, and Shane Dye and Tony Cowan came with him to the flop.

It brought {Q-Spades} {10-Hearts} {2-Diamonds}. Cowan was in the small blind, and he checked. Saab put out a bet of 600, Dye folded, and Cowan called.

Fourth street was the {6-Spades}, and both players checked. The river paired the board with the {Q-Hearts}. Cowan grabbed the lead now, sliding out 1,200 chips, and Saab made the call.

Cowan tabled {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} for a complete miss, and Saab spiked his cards down on the table: {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}. His good call with ace-high earns him the small pot and a nice moral victory.

"I shouldn't have tried to bluff the master!" chuckled Cowan.

Morning Series Winner off to a Fast Start

Ken Eastwood is taking full advantage of his freeroll entry into today's Main Event, playing often and play fast. He recently took down a three-way pot against Michael Rosenfield and Stewart Scott to move to 28,000 in chips.

On a board showing {A-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {5-Spades}, Eastwood check-raised a 1,500 bet made by Rosenfield, making it 5,000 to go. Rosenfield made the call and on the turn came the {9-Hearts}.

Eastwood then moved all in, putting Rosenfield to a decision for all of his chips. Rosenfield promptly folded, opting to live to see another flop, and Eastwood claimed the pot.

Eastwood won the Morning Series freeroll tournament that was hosted by the Crown throughout the week and his prize was a seat into the PokerNews Cup Main Event.

Hachem's Book

We pick up the action on the flop in a three-way pot between Joe Hachem, Roy Vandersluis, and George Youssef. The board shows {2-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {9-Clubs}.

Youssef leads out into the pot with a bet of 700, and both Hachem and Vandersluis call.

The turn comes the {10-Diamonds}, and Youssef continues out once more, this time with 1,000 chips. Hachem bumps it up to 3,500, prompting Vandersluis to fold. Youssef calls though, coming along to the river.

The last card off is the {9-Diamonds}. Youssef checks, allowing Hachem to bet 7,000, which he calls. Hachem tables {3-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} for a book. Youssef mucks, meaning Hachem's threes full of nines is the winner, and he moves his way up to 27,000.

Duckworth Leverages Levy

Tim Duckworth raised to 275 under the gun, and three players called, including Grant Levy. The flop came {10-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {6-Spades}. Duckworth continued out with a bet of 700, and Levy raised to 1,600, enough to get rid of the other two players in the hand. Duckworth was not so easily deterred though. He three-bet Levy, making it 5,000 straight. That was enough, as Levy let his hand go.

Duckworth is up to 21,900 in the early going, while Levy has slipped back to 17,650.

The Wrong Man to Bully

David Saab has been involved in a number of early pots, and several of them have been against Peter Mordaunt, who is sitting on his left.

In recent action, Saab limped in under the gun, and his nemesis put in a big raise to 1,000. The table folded back around, and Saab said, "I'm sick of you bullying me." He reraised to 4,000, and Mordaunt folded.

"I really hate being bullied," Saab reiterated, as he pulled in the uncontested pot.

Things Get Tough For The Duck

Tim Duckworth was enjoying his table in the early goings as half the seats at his table were left vacant. But that soon changed as three of them were filled by Gursel Ali, Manny Stavropoulos and 2007 APPT Grand Final Champion Grant Levy.

Notables in Today's Field

Some of the notable players in today's field include Paul Taylor, Julian Powell, Bill Jordanou, James Potter, Sam Youssef, Leo Boxell, Bryan Huang, Michael Pinzone and Tim Duckworth.

We've also spotted a couple of dangerous looking tables out there already. How's this for starting tables...Tony Hachem, Jarrad Dale, Mitchell Carle, Daniel Nielson and Graeme Putt all find themselves seated together, while the table of Kent Hunter, Joe Hachem, Abel Cabrera and Roy Vandersluis is the early nomination for the table of death.

Lackovic Off To Bad Start

Nick Lackovic is off to a bad start, after taking his seat on table 17. He sat down in seat number 9, but after a few minutes of play it was discovered that he was actually meant to be seated in seat number 8 when another player arrived with that seating ticket.

For his infraction Lackovic was given a five minute penalty!

Peeters Up Early

On the very first hand of the day, Peter Peeters opened with a raise to 250, and Filipe Pacheco made the call from the hijack seat. The flop came down {A-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {10-Clubs}. The betting was checked over to Pacheco, and he bet 425. Peeters called.

The turn brought the {7-Hearts}. Again Peeters checked and let Pacheco put out another 1,125 chips. Peeters put in a check-raise to 3,000, and Pacheco called.

The last card off was the {7-Spades}. Peeters led out with 4,000 chips. Pacheco went into the tank for several minutes, long enough to get the clock called on him. Finally, after about three or four minutes, he called.

Peeters turned over {10-Hearts} {10-Spades}, and his full house is enough to take down a nice early pot.
