Back to His Starting Stack

In a rare four-way pot, Kasper Frohling bet the maximum into a 1,750 pot, which was just about enough to take it down. Before he threw in his cards, he did that curious thing where players take one final peek at their cards, even though they've already won the pot. Why do we do this? Nevertheless, Frohling is now back up to his starting stack of 5,000.

I used to watch a lot of Murder She Wrote when I was younger, so nothing gets past these peepers. So, when I spotted Karl Heinz Metz collecting his belongings, rising from his chair and exiting the room with a rather disappointed look on his face, I thought to myself, "What would Jessica make of this?" and quickly deduced that he was out.

for a set, while all I caught of Metz' hand was that it contained {8-Spades}

An early bit of luck for Jorn Walthaus. Despite looking a little deathly after allegedly involving himself in some quantity-centric drinking games at the Pokernews party last night, he has knocked out Dmitriy Golovin already.

Both players seemed to be a little short already at the start of the hand, but nevertheless, Walthaus bet 350 on the {J-Hearts}

flop and Golovin flat called.

Walthaus checked the the {2-Spades}

turn and then called an ambitious 1,000 bet from Golovin -- Golovin left himself just 750 behind.

Walthaus checked the {7-Clubs}

river as well, and then called Golovin's all in bet. Golovin showed him the flopped straight -- but Walthaus had made the flush on the river and Golovin's gone.

On the river of an {8-Hearts}

board, Anders Willem Larsen raised Dimitriy Golovin's leading bet of 1,000 to 2,500. Golovin insta-called with {K-Spades}

, but it wasn't good enough in the face of Larsen's {A-Hearts}

for the turned full house.

As a result, Golovin's stack has been dissected in half; he now has 2,200.

Guten Tag, and welcome back to the PokerNews Cup Alpine here at the lavish Alpine Palace. Today will see two events take place simultaneously as we go Omaha crazy with a €270+30 freezeout and the highly anticipated €4,700+300 Omaha High Rollers event.

The big boys don't make their entrance until 4pm, so until then, we'll be keeping you up-to-date with all the cheers and tears from event #4, which is due to commence in around 15 minutes time.
