Flushed Away

Anders Willemoes Larsen
Anders Willemoes Larsen
On a {9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} board, it appeared as though Anders Willemoes Larsen had come over the top of Marcel Luske's leading bet of 4,000 for around 18,000.

Luske clearly didn't like the situation, but deemed there to be enough in the pot to make the call with {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Larsen had his nose in front with {10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, but couldn't avoid the mountain of outs, one of which appeared in the form of the {2-Diamonds}.

Larsen shrugged his shoulders and departed without so much as a murmur.

Cheeky Charly

Charly Le Guillou is enjoying more doubles than a night out with Dana. At the moment his latest conquest is Marcel Luske, the Flying Dutchman is looking to avoid one of six outs with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} versus {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}.

A {6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} board favoured the short-stack, though, and Le Guillou doubled through. Luske, meanwhile, drops down to 100,000.

"How can I be lucky if I lose with the best hand?" concluded Luske in response to an earlier jibe.

Stephan Kernig Doubles Through

Stephan Kernig has just doubled through, thanks to Vladislav Bakalov.

"What have you got?" asked Bakalov as he mulled from the small blind, much to the amusement of the rest of the table.

His direct questioning fell on deaf ears, however, as Kernig, who had pushed in from the button, simply responded with a smile.

"Call!" announced Bakalov abruptly.

As Kernig tabled {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, Bakalov dropped his head in his hands and meekly revealed {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}. "Yes!" exclaimed a jubilant Kernig, perhaps slightly premature in his celebrations.

But ultimately, he was justified in his joy as the board came {8-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} to see his stack increase two fold and leave Bakalov with a now severely depleted stack.
