Who Will Make the PokerNews Cup Final Table?

Matthew Bretzfield
Matthew Bretzfield

After three starting flights and 1,245 entries, Day 2 of the PokerNews Cup at the Golden Nugget is set to begin at 12 p.m. PDT on Monday, June 27.

From Days 1a-1c, just 156 players were able to navigate over the first hurdle and bag and tag a stack for Day 2. All those players have made the money and have locked up a minimum prize of $1,450 but of course, all eyes will be on $202,725 up top. The PokerNews Cup has generated the largest prize pool in Golden Nugget history, with the final total being confirmed at $1,207,650!

Leading the pack is Day 1c chip leader Matthew Bretzfield (817,000). He was the only player to acquire more than 800,000 chips and is in prime position to make the final table. Aditya Rao (753,000) was another player to bag big on Day 1c and he is the player closest to Bretzfield. Rounding out the top three chip counts is Daniel Fuhs (709,000), who bagged best from Day 1b.

World Series of Poker bracelet winners that are still in contention include Michael Moore (422,000), Joon Kim (284,000), Abhinav Iyer (177,000), and Justin Lapka (80,000).

As well as keeping up with the live updates, you can watch the action from the PokerNews Cup on the PokerNews YouTube and Twitch channels from 4:30 p.m. PDT. Action will be on a 30-minute delay with live commentary and hole cards displayed.

The plan for Day 2 is to whittle the field of 156 down to the nine-handed final table, Day 2 will close when that milestone is hit. Play resumes with nine minutes on the clock at Level 16, with the blinds rolled back to 3,000/6,000/6,000.
