€10,300 High Roller

Day 1 Started

Welcome to Day 1 of PokerStars Championship Barcelona €10,300 High Roller

PokerStars Championship Barcelona is ready to start winding down soon after over a week of exciting poker, but before the tents can be folded up, there's one last big event to play out: €10,300 High Roller.

That event starts today, with cards scheduled to fly at 12:30 p.m. local time in Casino Barcelona.

Last year under the EPT banner, Connor Drinan emerged as champion over a field of 591 entries, conquering the likes of Patrick Leonard, Ari Engel, Joseph Cheong and Oleksii Khoroshenin, all of whom made the final table. Drinan claimed a massive €849,200 first-place prize, and a similarly monstrous turnout and prize pool is expected again this year.

Before the tournament can reach that point this year, the minutiae of Day 1 must take place. That means 10 levels, each lasting one hour. Players get 50,000 in starting chips at miniscule blinds of just 100/200/25 to start, working their way to 800/1,600/200. Should something go awry — a sick cooler, a bluff gone wrong, or an unfortunate river card — players do get one mulligan in this one, having the option to reenter once.

Keep an eye out here on PokerNews as we bring you all of the live updates.

More players are filtering in. Among them: British star Stephen Chidwick. The high rollers have been quite the bankroll booster for Chidwick thus far at PokerStars Championship Barcelona. He won the €25K Single-Day for a career-best €690,400 and followed that up in the €25K Single Day II with a third-place finish for €220,700.

We'll see if he can make it three straight deep runs.

Chaudey Gets Three Streets of Value

Level 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

After Marc MacDonnell had raised, Christopher Chaudey three-bet to 1,650 in position and received a call. The flop was {2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades} and MacDonnell check-called 2,400 from Chaudey.

On the {9-Diamonds} turn, MacDonnell checked, Chaudey bet 3,400, and MacDonnell called again. The river was the {5-Spades} and the Irishman checked a third time. Chaudey quickly bet 6,000, which received an equally fast call.

Chaudey showed {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and MacDonnell slid his hand face-down in the muck.
