Carrel Bluffs Vogelsang Big

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

We found high roller regs Christoph Vogelsang and Charlie Carrel tangling in a pot of about 13,000 with {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} on the felt. Vogelsang was facing an overbet of 20,000 on the river, with Carrel sitting in position on the button. Vogelsang seemed truly pained as he went deep into the tank. After about four minutes, he finally slid his cards forward and told Carrel he was folding. Carrel busted out laughing, and Vogelsang dragged his cards back, regretting his move.

The German smiled and turned over {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}, with Carrel showing he had gotten the better hand to fold after missing his flush draw: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

Riess Battles With Pollak

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Benjamin Pollak raised to 1,000 from early position. Ryan Riess three-bet to 2,800 from the cutoff, and Pollak called. Both players quickly checked the {6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop.

Pollak checked the {6-Hearts} on the turn, Riess bet 3,600, and Pollak folded.

Billard's Bomb Bamboozles Lau Before Break

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

In the cutoff, Alan Lau had a bet of 4,500, about half the pot, when we got to his table. The board had come {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{a-Spades}, and Francois Billard had bombed in a big check-raise to 22,000 from middle position. Lau thought things over for awhile but eventually conceded the pot.

Players then went on break moments later.

Reixach Eliminates Thomas

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

Julian Thomas had shoved all in from the button when we got to his table and was at risk for about 5,000 against big blind Sergi Reixach.

Thomas: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}
Reixach: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

The flop came {8-Spades}{j-Hearts}{q-Spades}, pulling Reixach into the lead with queens but leaving him fading a pile of outs.

"Yes!" Thomas exclaimed. "Flush!"

It wasn't to be as two bricks fell, and he wished everyone good luck.

Warburton Rising

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante
Steven Warburton
Steven Warburton

Steve Warburton is up to 85,000 in the early stages, courtesy of a large pot he dragged of Hans Sybrandi without showdown. With the pot already up to over 10,000, Sybrandi bet 8,700 on a {6-Clubs}{K-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades} board, Warburton raised to 23,700, and Sybrandi laid it down.

Warburton knows what it's like to win big in the Spanish city. In 2015, the Brit finished runner-up to John Juanda in the EPT12 Main Event and cashed €941,613, by far his biggest cash to date.
