Astedt Makes A Wrong Call

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

With the board completed at {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} and around 8,500 in the pot, Niklas Astedt checked to Daniel Soler Mayoral, who went all in. It was an overbet for Astedt's remaining stack of 12,800.

"You have a good hand?" smiled Astedt as he asked Soler, trying to get a read. The Swede spent another thirty seconds in the tank before splashing his stack in.

Daniel Soler Mayoral: {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Niklas Astedt: {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Soler had Astedt completely crushed and the Swede made his way to the exit.

Maltez Finds the Call Button

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

There was over 50,000 in the pot between Fabrice Maltez, in the cutoff, and a middle-position opponent. The board read {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Maltez's opponent pushed all in for 37,500 effective to put Maltez to the test. After a couple of minutes, the French player flicked in a chip to call.

Maltez: {a-}{k-}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{8-Spades}

Maltez just needed to fade another spade hitting the board, and he did just that as the {7-Diamonds} fell.

Daniel Negreanu in the €50K Super High Roller

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu's run in the Main Event has ended in the penultimate level of the day. On a {9-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts} board, Negreanu was all in with {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for trip sevens but his opponent held {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} for a king-high flush to become the second player to eliminate the Canadian today.

"I played the €50k earlier and I'm so tired. Good luck everyone," Negreanu said while making his exit.

Sammartino Doubles Big Through Guerrero

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

After substantial action preflop, in what was either a four- or five-bet pot, Dario Sammartino (small blind) and Jimmy Guerrero (big blind) saw a {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop appear. Sammartino checked to Guerrero, who bet 12,500. The Italian check-raised all in for 35,300 and Guerrero snap-called.

Dario Sammartino: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Jimmy Guerrero: {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}

Sammartino was in the lead with his pair of kings but Guerrero had a plethora of outs to snatch the pot from the high roller. Sammartino remained ahead after the {3-Hearts} on the turn and Guerrero missed his outs again on the {A-Diamonds} river.

With the massive double, Sammartino moved up to 120,000 in chips.

Paloniemi Over 100K

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Alex Papazian opened for 2,200 under the gun and got action from both blinds. On the {7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}, the blinds did not check to the raiser. Far from it, as Jukka Paloniemi bet 1,600 and the big blind raised to 6,400. Papazian mucked, and Paloniemi called. The Fin then check-called another 23,000 on the {2-Hearts} turn. The {7-Hearts} brought a pair of quick checks, and Paloniemi tabled {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for sixes full to win it.

David Peters

From middle position, David Peters opened for 1,400. Jonathan Collins on the button called and the player in the big blind called as well.

The big blind checked on {9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} and Peters bet 2,400. Collins called, the big blind folded.

Peters checked once the {6-Diamonds} hit the turn and Collins bet 5,000. Peters called.

The {Q-Spades} completed the board and Peters checked again. Collins shoved for 21,000 and Peters called quickly, showing {A-Spades}{10-Spades} for the nuts. Collins tabled {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and made his way to the exit.
