Mackinnon Turns One Dead

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

A player in the small blind shoved for 5,800, which looked to be about the size of the pot, on a {2-Spades}{k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop. The big blind called, and DJ MacKinnon reshipped for 21,600 in early position. The big blind tanked a few minutes and then announced a fold.

MacKinnon: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Small blind: {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

"Good fold," someone said to the big blind.

MacKinnon was fading clubs but that sweat ended quickly when the {2-Diamonds} paired the board to give him a boat.

Soderstrom vs. Deyra

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Ivan Deyra raised to 500 from the cutoff and both blinds called, with Tomas Soderstrom in the big blind. Soderstrom led out on a {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop and Deyra called. The {6-Spades} on the turn got checked by both players.

Soderstrom bet 2,700 on the {9-Spades} river and Deyra called after a minute. Soderstrom turned over {J-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for the rivered straight and the Frenchman mucked.

Pimen Gets There in Sneaky Fashion

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

At Table 15, four players put in 3,400 preflop, with David Abreu the most aggressive of the bunch in the big blind. He bet 6,500 on an {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop, and Vítor Da Silva Pimen called after one fold, with the last player mucking also. Both checked the {3-Diamonds}, and a {6-Spades} completed the board. Abreu checked and snap-called when Pimen splashed in a pile of chips that turned out to be 11,175.

Pimen tabled {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a straight.

Malec Sits Down; Drags A Big One

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante
Sebastian Malec
Sebastian Malec

EPT13 Barcelona winner Sebastian Malec has joined in his quest to repeat his performance last year when he conquered a 1,785-strong field. Malec cashed an astonishing €1,122,800 and instantly became a recognizable face on the circuit.

The Pole found himself in a substantial pot right away against Bart Kuiper. Kuiper, who was seated under the gun, bet a little over 10,000 on a {J-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board, a substantial bet in relation to the pot. Malec spent nearly four minutes thinking, using his fingers to count the combo's, before flicking in a single chip to call.

Kuiper showed {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for busted straight and flush draws, and Malec scooped up the pot with {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.
