Jiang In Command

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Sosia Jiang is table captain and that does not look like changing any time soon and she has won all four of the first hands of heads-up.

The first hand saw Raghav Bansal limp the button but immediately fold to a Jiang raise, and Bansal folded to out to a Jiang button raise the very next hand.

This trend continued with the third hand playing out exactly the same as the first. On the fourth hand we had our first flop with Jiang making it 75,000 to go on the button and Bansal making the call.

Both players checked the {2-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop with Bansal also checking the {7-Diamonds} turn. Jiang now chose to fire, throwing out two red 25k chips for an enticing 50,000 bet. Bansal check-raised to 180,000 and Jiang quickly slid out a purple 100k calling chip.

The {2-Diamonds} river completed the hand and the betting and Bansal turned over {q-Spades}{10-Spades} but could not best Jiang’s {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} and slumped down to 575,000 while Jiang rises to 8.475 million.

Break Time

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

We are down to two in the High Roller and have just gone on a 15-minute break. More details to follow with regards to the most recent bust out so stay tuned.

Troy Quenneville Eliminated in 3rd Place (HK$1,800,000)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Troy Quenneville
Troy Quenneville

Sosia Jiang limped in from the small blind and Troy Quenneville checked his option out of the big blind. On the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{5-Spades} flop, Jiang bet 30,000 and Quenneville called before the {10-Clubs} fell on the turn. Jiang made it 250,000 to go and Quenneville called, the {8-Spades} river then completed the board.

Jiang moved all in for effectively more than two times the pot, as Quenneville had around 1,600,000 left. The Canadian shot out of his chair and studied the board, then called with around 10 seconds left on his shot clock. Jiang flipped over {A-Spades}{10-Spades} for the nut flush and Quenneville mucked his {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts} for broadway.

Quenneville had to settle for third place and a payday of HK$1,800,000, which equals US$234,000. Jiang will enter heads-up with a huge lead over Bansal.

Jiang Crushes Opposition

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Troy Quenneville raised to 67,000 and Sodia Jiang called in the big blind. On the {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop, Jiang check-called a bet worth 72,000 and then checked the {9-Hearts} on the turn. Quenneville bet 124,000 and Jiang check-raised to 275,000 in order to force a fold.

Then, Jiang limped in and Quenneville checked his option. On the {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, both players checked. Jiang bet the {10-Hearts} turn for 30,000 and that won the pot without resistance.

Jiang raised the button to 70,000 and Raghav Bansal defended the big blind. On a flop of {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{2-Spades}, Bansal checked and Jiang's continuation bet ended the hand right there.

While Jiang was not on the table for two minutes, Quenneville raised to 90,000 in the small blind and Bansal called in the big blind. On the {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop, both players checked. Same then happened on the {9-Clubs} turn and {9-Spades} river and Quenneville showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, which Bansal had beat with {Q-Spades}{7-Spades}.

The next hand, Bansal limped and Jiang was back in her seat and checked out of the big blind. On the {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, Bansal bet 35,000 and Jiang called before the {8-Clubs} turn and {6-Spades} river went check, check. Bansal showed {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Jiang won the pot with {J-Spades}{5-Spades}.

Bansal Rides Rollercoaster, Quenneville Wins Big

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Raghav Bansal
Raghav Bansal

It’s a rollercoaster ride of a tournament for former front runner Raghav Bansal who’s stack is going up and down so fast it’s a wonder he hasn’t been sick all over the table.

It was Sosia Jiang controlling this particular fairground ride; Bansal raised up to 80,000 from the small blind and Jiang re-raised to 200,000 in total with Bansal making the call.

The Indian player checked the {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop over to Jiang, who c-bet 300,000, which Bansal called before checking the {a-Hearts} turn, and while there was a little big of confusion with Jiang missing the check and running the clock down thinking the action was still on Bansal, she eventually checked it back.

The {10-Spades} river saw Bansal check once more and Jiang reached for chips, making it 350,000 to go.

“This is so sick,” muttered Bansal, “Do you have it?”

Jiang must look like she does as Bansal folded to drop down to 1.6m while Jiang climbed up to the giddy heights of 5.8 million.

The Indian player’s ride was not over here though with Bansal and Troy Quenneville playing a big pot immediately after. Bansal made it 70,000 to go on the button and Quenneville called from the big blind to take the action to a flop of {j-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{a-Hearts}.

Quenneville checked, Bansal bet 80,000 and the Canadian called and the {5-Spades} hit the turn. This brought a second check from Quenneville and another bet from Bansal, this one a slightly larger 225,000.

After a short visit to the think tank Quenneville called to create s sizable pot and it was off to the {10-Spades} river, which brought four to a straight. The Canadian checked for a third time and Bansal bet big, firing out 425,000.

The shot clock ticked down to 5 before Quenneville threw in the call and Bansal turned over {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, which were no good as Quenneville had made the call with {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and scooped the chunky pot to climb to 2.25 million while the Indian took a big hit and dropped to 755,000.

Bansal managed to climb back to close to the 1-million chip mark the very next hand, defending his big blind against a Sosia Jiang 70,000 button raise. The {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop brought a check from Bansal and a bet of 55,000 from Jiang, which was called to bring in the {4-Diamonds} turn.

Both players checked and the {5-Diamonds} river brought four to a flush. Bansal set a trap with a check but Jiang did not trigger it and checked it back. Bansal’s turned over {a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for the nut flush and Jiang mucked.

Bansal Pays off Jiang

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Troy Quenneville limped in from the small blind and Raghav Bansal checked his option in the big blind. On a flop of {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}, both players checked and did so again on the {3-Spades} turn. Quenneville then bet the {9-Clubs} river for 34,000 and Bansal folded.

Then, Bansal raised to 70,000 on the button and Quenneville came along from the big blind. The flop showed {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Quenneville bet 30,000, Bansal called. On the {5-Spades} turn, the Canadian fired 135,000 and Bansal folded.

One hand later, Sosia Jiang raised from the button to 70,000 and Bansal came along from the big blind. On the {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop, Bansal checked and called a bet worth 125,000 before the {3-Clubs} turn went check, check. Bansal bet the {7-Diamonds} river for 100,000 and Jiang raised to 350,000, prompting a quick call from Bansal.

Jiang turned over {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the nut straight and claimed another big pot.

Nick Petrangelo Eliminated in 4th Place (HK$1,465,000)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

Nick Petrangelo raised to 60,000 from the button and then faced the three-bet of Sosia Jiang in the big blind. Petrangelo moved all in for less than a million and Jiang snap-called.

Nick Petrangelo: {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Sosia Jiang: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

The {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop changed nothing much, while Petrangelo picked up a few outs for a miracle on the {3-Hearts} turn. However, a blank {7-Spades} on the river sent the poker pro to the rail in 4th place and he added another HK$1,465,000 (~US$190,450) to his two previous second-place finishes during the festival at the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room.

All remaining three players have HK$1,800,000 locked up, which equals approximately US$234,000.

Quenneville Straightens Out Bansal, Bansal Wins Some Back

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Troy Quenneville and Raghav Bansal have clashed in back-to-back hands, winning one each. Quenneville came out of both encounters with more chips than he went in with though so he won’t be too unhappy.

In the first, it was Quenneville raising from the button to 67,000 with Bansal making the call from the big blind. Both players checked the {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} flop and the {j-Spades} turn before Bansal led for a tickly little 35,000 bet on the river.

Quenneville came over the top with a raise to 84,000 in total, and after thinking it over Bansal tossed in the call, but could only muck when Quenneville turned over[ 8c5c] for a turned straight.

The Canadian was at it again the next hand, opening from under-the-gun for 67,000 and when the action got around to Bansal he re-popped it up to 193,000.

Quenneville shot him a stare and made the call to bring the action to the rather arid {7-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop. Bansal led for 161,000 and Quenneville folded immediately.
