Morales Hits the Rail

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

From early position, Kenneth Smaron opened for 15,000. Action folded around to Arturo Morales on the button and he shoved for 58,000 total. Both blinds released, Smaron called.

Arturo Morales: {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Kenneth Smaron: {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

Without much show, the dealer ran out the {2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} board. Smaron started stacking chips, Morales was on his way to the payout desk.

Guzman Can't Survive Second Shove

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Jose Moran Guzman got it in preflop again, this time with {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} against the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} of Roman Pavliuk. The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, so Guzman did not survive his second all-in ship in a row.

Davidi Kitai Eliminated

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Davidi Kitai
Davidi Kitai

Davidi Kitai started out the day as one of the shortest stack in the field, but did manage to survive the bubble. He nurtured the short stack for the longest time but just ran out of luck. The one eliminating him was his sole countryman still in: Jonathan Abdellatif.

Kitai shoved the cutoff for 36,000 with {K-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Abdellatif looked him up from the big blind with {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}. The board ran out {Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades}.

With that, Kitai hit the rail in 36th place, good for $9,780.

Kaverman Flops Big

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Byron Kaverman raised preflop and got a couple of callers, seeing {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} flop. Action checked to Pablo Gordillo, who bet 25,000 on the button. Kaverman called after a player in the blinds mucked. Kaverman checked and called another 42,000 on the {j-Hearts} turn and then checked the {10-Diamonds} river. Gordillo thought awhile and checked back, and Kaverman flipped over {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} for top set.

Four-Deuce Never Lose

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Action folded around to Alberto Fonseca Masis on the button and he raised to 12,000 on the button. The small blind called, and Taran Parmar decided to move all in for 116,000 from the big blind.

Masis thought for a moment and decided to call. The small blind folded, and Parmar stood up, clearly upset that he was called as he tabled {4-Spades}{2-Spades}. His friend was over at another table and he said, "He called me with king-queen. I thought he would fold. I have four-deuce!"

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, giving Masis a pair of kings, but Parmar picked up bottom pair.

The turn was the {8-Hearts} and the river was the {4-Clubs}, giving Parmar two pair. As the dealer pushed him the pot, Parmar gave his friend a big high five.

Parmar said, "I didn't want him to call."

Jason Koon was at the table and said, "Really? You didn't want him to call you when you had four-deuce?"

Denis Timofeev Takes from Tito Ortiz

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Andres Carrillo opened with a raise from early position and Tito Ortiz and Denis Timofeev called from the hijack and cutoff respectively. When the flop came down {2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, Carrillo continued for 16,500 and both his opponents called.

When the {A-Diamonds} appeared on the turn, both Carrillo and Ortiz checked the {A-Diamonds} turn and Timofeev fired out 41,000. Only Ortiz called to see the {8-Hearts} turn and action went check-check.

Ortiz tabled the {10-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for top pair on the flop, but Timofeev pulled ahead on the turn with the {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.
