Two for Luth; One for Bondar

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

The new level started with far less action at the table and it was Peyman Luth who claimed two pots in a row before folding to the three-bet shove of Andrey Bondar.

Dmytro Shuvanov opened to 18,000 on the button and Luth three-bet to 60,000, which claimed the pot. Then, Luth check-called a bet worth 15,000 by Luiz Duarte on the {Q-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} flop before the {5-Diamonds} turn and {8-Spades} river were checked. Luth showed {9-Spades}{7-Spades} and that won the pot.

The next hand, Luth opened to 21,000 on the button and Bondar's shove for 99,000 in the small blind shut down all further action.

Lopes and Malnik Eliminated

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

At almost the same time and on different tables, Bruno Lopes and Ariel Malnik have been eliminated.

In the case of Malnik, Iliodoros Kamatakis raised and Malnik shoved from the button for 82,000. Maxim Panyak reshoved from the small blind for 224,000 and Kamatakis called for most of his stack.

Ariel Malnik: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Maxim Panyak: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Iliodoros Kamatakis: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The board came {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Malnik ended up third best after going into the showdown with the best hand, joining the rail. Kamatakis is left short with less than 10 big blinds while Panyak jumped above average.

Smith Can't Make Panyak Fold

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

On a {J-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} flop, Dan Smith check-called a 12,000 bet from Maxim Panyak. Both players checked the {10-Clubs} on the turn.

On the {5-Spades} river, Smith checked and Panyak bet 37,000. Smith came down with the hammer and put in a big check-raise to 180,000. Panyak thought for minutes on end, then decided to call it off.

Dan Smith: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Maxim Panyak: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

Smith's play failed to fold out Panyak's aces and he had to surrender a decent part of his stack to his Russian opponent.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Team PokerStars Pro is down to just Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier as Daniel Negreanu's run in the PokerStars Championship Main Event ended in 51st place.

Negreanu opened to 18.000 from the cutoff and Hossein Ensan defended his big blind. The flop was {J-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Ensan checked. Negreanu bet 22,000 and Ensan responded with a quick check-raise to 55,000.

"Make it 100k," said Negreanu as he put in the corresponding amount. Ensan quickly went all in and Negreanu called his remaining 124,000 off.

"You got something good?" Negreanu asked.

"Set," answered Ensan.

"Set? How big? Not good" laughed Negreanu, who knew he was drawing nearly dead.

Daniel Negreanu: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Hossein Ensan: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

The {K-Diamonds} on the turn ended it all for the Canadian superstar, who received €12,080 for his 51st place. "Good luck my friend," he told Ensan as he left the table.

Petrushevskii Rising

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Sergei Petrushevskii claimed a pot early into the new level and followed that up just now in a hand against Dan Smith. The latter defended his big blind and the {K-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop was checked through. On the {10-Spades} turn, Smith bet 20,000 and Petrushevskii called before the {6-Diamonds} river brought no betting action.

Smith turned over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and his opponent had that beat with {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}.

Nardin Takes from Huber

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Andreas Klatt was the initial raiser and picked up two opponents in Stefan Huber on the button and Romain Nardin in the big blind. On the {J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Spades} flop, the action checked to Huber and he bet 41,000, which Nardin and Klatt called.

After the {3-Spades} turn, Nardin checked again as did Klatt. Huber fired 107,000 and Nardin called, Klatt let go. The {J-Hearts} river then saw Huber check behind and Nardin turned over {J-Spades}{5-Spades} for a flush to win a decent pot.

Kolkowicz Rivers Full House to Eliminate L'Hostis

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Jerome L'Hostis
Jerome L'Hostis

Jerome L'Hostis has been the first player above one million chips, but this has now been reduced to zero after a big clash with Michael Kolkowicz.

It was L'Hostis that raised from under the gun and Kolkowicz called from one seat over, Raffaele Sorrentino also called in the big blind. On the {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{J-Spades} flop, Sorrentino checked and so did L'Hostis. Kolkowicz bet 44,000 and that resulted in a fold from Sorrentino and a call from L'Hostis.

Kolkowicz checked the stack of his opponent before the {5-Hearts} fell on the turn, and L'Hostis then checked. Kolkowicz made it 100,000 to go and faced the check-raise all in for 308,000 by L'Hostis soon after. It took more than two minutes and Kolkowicz then called while saying "I know I am behind, but there are too many chips in the middle" in French.

Jerome L'Hostis: {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Michael Kolkowicz: {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

The {J-Hearts} fell on the river to give Kolkowicz a full house and he regained the lead from table neighbor Stefan Schillhabel.
