Mehamed Takes Over the Chip Lead

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Alan Manuel Mehamed was under the gun and raised to 1,000. Alex Manzano was on the button and raised to 2,000, but he appeared as though he was unaware that Mehamed put in the initial raise. He eventually realized it, and got calls from both Joaquin Earcena in the big blind as well as Mehamed.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and both Earcena and Mehamed checked to Manzano. He thought for a moment and bet 2,500. Earcena folded and Mehamed called.

The turn was the {10-Clubs}. Mehamed checked, and Manzano bet 8,000 this time. Mehamed went into the tank for about a minute before eventually deciding to call.

The river was the {j-Hearts}, and Mehamed checked for a third time. Manzano thought for a long while before betting 18,500. Mehamed snap-called, and Manzano tabled {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for a pair of queens. Mehamed tabled {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a straight to the jack and scooped the pot.

Mehamed, who was once the shortest stack, has bounced back and has taken over the chip lead.

Oscar Alache was under the gun and raised to 1,025. Joaquin Earcena was in the small blind and three-bet to 2,700. Alan Manuel Mehamed decided to four-bet to 6,000 from the big blind, and Alache quickly five-bet to 12,500. Earcena snap-folded. Mehamed piled his entire stack of 24,625 chips in the middle and Alache quickly called.

Mehamed: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Alache: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Mehamed was well ahead with two black kings, and had to dodge an ace to stay alive. As it turned out, the flop came {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, giving Alache a flush draw to add to his lone over card. The turn was the {2-Spades} and Alache now picked up extra outs to make a wheel.

The river was the {j-Spades} and Mehamed was able to dodge a significant amount of cards to avoid being the first man down in his high roller.
