Wendt and Schulze Double

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Michael Schulze was all in and at risk preflop from the button for his last 63,500 with the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and [Removed:65] in the big blind held the {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} after he three-bet all in and picked up the call by Schulze.

There was no upset on the board {6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Schulze remained in contention.

In a battle of the Danes, Martin Wendt on the button three-bet an open-raise by Jakob Madsen in the cutoff and Madsen called to go heads-up to the flop of {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. Madsen checked and called a bet of 23,000 by Wendt before checking again the {A-Diamonds} turn. Wendt moved all in and Madsen reluctantly called.

Wendt showed {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for a turned pair of aces while Madsen tabled {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. A blank {7-Diamonds} on the river was of no help and Wendt doubled.

Thang Duc Nguyen

The number of remaining former EPT Main Event champions has been reduce from three to just two, as Frederik Jensen sent Thang Duc Nguyen to the rail.

Thang Duc Nguyen: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Frederik Jensen: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

The board brought {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Nguyen was left empty-handed.

PokerStars Festival Hamburg: Three EPT champs return seeking High Roller victory

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Frederik Jensen

Cards are now in the air on the second and final day of the PokerStars Festival Hamburg €2,200 High Roller. Just 28 players returned to battle it out, and three of the biggest stacks belong to familiar faces at Blog HQ.

For you see, left in the field we have three former EPT champions. While we don't have much to report for the day's action thus far (play only got going at 5pm, but you'll find chip counts and a recap of yesterday's action here), we thought we'd take a closer look at those champs, and what they've been up to since becoming EPT victors.

Three Double Ups

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Michael Schulze moved all in with the {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and table neighbour Vitaly Karayvan called with the {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Thanks to the board of {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, Schulze spiked an ace and doubled for 52,100.

One table over, Frederik Jensen was all in for his last 63,800 with {A-Clubs}{J-Spades} and Toni Vardjavand looked him up with {K-Spades}{10-Spades}. Both flopped a pair and a straight draw on the {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop, and the {5-Clubs} turn and {5-Diamonds} river were both blanks.

However, the fortune of Jensen lasted only a few moments as Florian Bach doubled through him right after with {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} versus {A-Hearts}{10-Spades} for 55,700, as the kicker played on the {6-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

Vardjavand Busts Leu; Paskevicius Takes Out Wohlgemuth

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Sven Leu raised from under the gun and four-bet all in after a three-bet of Toni Vardjavand in the big blind.

Sven Leu: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Toni Vardjavand: {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

The board of {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{J-Spades} gave Leu two pair only for Vardjavand to restore the preflop order and river a set, eliminating Leu in the process.

One table over, Vytis Paskevicius pushed from the small blind and short stack Jonas Wohlgemuth called in the big blind with {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and had a flip against the {A-Spades}{7-Spades} of the Lithuanian. The board of {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{10-Spades} improved Paskevicius and that was it for Wohlgemuth.

Madsen Takes from Haneberg

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Jakob Madsen's raise from the cutoff was met with a three-bet to 24,500 by Andre Haneberg out of the small blind, which Madsen called. Both players checked the {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop and Haneberg bet the {6-Diamonds} turn for 12,500, Madsen called.

After the {A-Hearts} river, Haneberg made it 31,500 to go and Madsen just called to see the German roll over {K-}{J-} for kings and sixes. Madsen had that beat with {8-Spades}{6-Spades} for trips and scooped the pot.

Andersson Eliminated

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Thang Duc Nguyen's {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} were cracked by the {8-Clubs}{3-Clubs} of Kim De Han when the latter defended his big blind and turned two pair on the board {Q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}.

Soon after, Frederik Andersson shoved for 25,000 and Frederik Jensen called on the button. De Han isolated from the small blind and Jensen folded.

Frederik Andersson: {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Kim De Han: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The board came {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and that was it for the Swede.
