Alan Lau Stacked by Wei Hsiang Yeu

Alan Lau on Day 1
Alan Lau on Day 1

With about 25,000 chips already in the middle and the board reading {9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, Alan Lau checked from the big blind and Wei Hsiang Yeu bet 8,000 from the cutoff. Lau check-raised all in and Yeu called to put Lau at risk.

Lau: {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Yeu: {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Lau had ace high and an open-ended straight draw but found himself trailing Yeu's flopped pair of nines. The {3-Clubs} on the river was no help to Lau and Yeu took the pot, putting his stack over the 200,000-chip mark.

Several More Entries

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Although there were 45 total entries on Day 1, that number has already climbed to 49 within the first few minutes of play on Day 2. Among the recent re-entries is Alan Lau, who lost his stack moments ago and has been seated back on the same table.

Wei Hsiang Yeu Takes from Kazuhiko Yotsushika

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

With about 17,000 chips already in the middle on a flop of {A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, Kazuhiko Yotsushika was in the big blind and had already put four T-5,000 chips over the line. Wei Hsiang Yeu moved all-in from the hijack, putting Yotsushika to a decision for the remainder of his stack. He went into the tank and tossed the dealer at least one time bank chip. As the seconds ticked down on the shot clock, he folded and showed the {A-Hearts}, and Yeu took the pot.

Although PokerStars Team Online Pro Randy Lew began the day second in chips, Yeu holds that spot currently and this pot put his stack closer to that of the current chip leader, Boyouan Qu, who began the day on the same table as Yeu but has since been moved to a different one.

Horzuchi Yutaka Doubles Through Elias Gutierrez

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Horzuchi Yutaka was in the cutoff and got his entire stack in the middle before the flop against Elias Gutierrez, who was in the small blind and has Yutaka covered by a wide margin.

Yutaka: {A-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Gutierrez: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

Gutierrez had the preflop advantage with his pocket pair and Yutaka needed help from the deck to double up. He took the lead when the flop fell {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, pairing his ace and leaving Gutierrez in bad shape. The {10-Spades} on the turn changed nothing, the {4-Diamonds} river further improved Yutaka by giving him aces up, and he took the pot to double.

As Gutierrez was stacking his newly-acquired chips, Takashi Ogura, who began the day as the short stack and had been felted minutes earlier, took a seat at this table after re-entering.

Schedule Change: Added Dinner Break

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Pete Chen Felted

Boyuan Qu, who extended his chip lead significantly over the first level of Day 2, raised to 5,500 from the button and Pete Chen jammed from the small blind for 33,200. Daniel Demicki quickly reshoved from the big blind for what looked like just over 80,000,, and after a few moments of thought, Qu folded.

Demicki: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Chen: {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}

Chen was in bad shape preflop with the smaller pocket pair and needed help from the deck in order to double up. Although he picked up a gutshot when the flop came {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}, he didn't improve further on the {Q-Hearts} turn or {2-Diamonds} river and Demicki took the pot.
