Randy Lew Felts a Foe

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Randy Lew
Randy Lew

Randy Lew was on the button, had already had committed 5,300 chips, and was facing a shove from the big blind for what looked like about 17,000. After some thought, Lew called to put his opponent at risk.

Lew: {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Big blind: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

Lew found himself trailing his opponent's pocket queens and needed help from the deck to win the pot and eliminate his opponent. The {10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop changed nothing, but the {K-Clubs} showed up on the turn to pair Lew's king, giving him a huge lead with one card to come. Lew's hand was still best after the {3-Hearts} fell on the river and he took the pot to send his opponent to the rail.

First a Celebration, then an Apology

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

We found Masayuki Suzuki pushing all in from the big blind for 30,200 and getting called right away by a player in early position, who had {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. Suzuki turned over {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and didn't like what he saw on the {8-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop. However, he celebrated and pumped his fist when the {10-Diamonds} turned to give him a boat. The river was a harmless {3-Spades}, and Suzuki patted the table and said sorry before receiving his chips.

Taro Kimura Climbing

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

With about 12,000 chips already in the pot on a flop of {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, Taro Kimura checked from the small blind to his lone opponent, Takumi Samejima on the button. Samejima bet 15,000, and after a bit of thought, Kimura called.

The turn brought the {Q-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The river was the {7-Spades} and they checked again. Kimura flipped over {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts} for trip kings with a jack and Samejima tossed his cards into the muck.

Choi Gets Lucky

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Ikmyung Choi opened for 2,500 in middle position and got three-bet to 8,000 by a player on the button. Choi responded by shoving all in, but he knew he was in trouble when his opponent snap-called.

Choi: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Button: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The {a-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop changed things in a hurry in Choi's favor. The {9-Spades} turn and {q-Clubs} river kept him best. Stacks were cut down and Choi had about 37,000, while his opponent had around 32,000.
