Shalaumov Chases Them Away

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

On a flop of {2-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, Oleg Shalaumov checked in the big blind. A player in middle position bet 1,000 and got two calls. Shalaumov woke up with a raise to 3,500 and that was enough to chase everyone to the muck.

Shalaumov bested the formidable Pete Chen heads up to win a preliminary event here for nearly $14,000 and he's looking to add to his success here in Korea.

Choi Takes from Yeu

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

With about 3,000 chips already in the middle and the board reading {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, Wei Hsiang Yeu checked from under the gun and Ikmyung Choi bet 1,600 from the hijack. Yeu called.

The river brought the {6-Hearts} and both players checked. Yeu quickly flipped over {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for aces with a nine, but was second best to Choi's {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}, so Choi raked in the chips.

Zhu Off to a Nice Start

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Xiangbiao Zhu, who cashed in the High Roller here, bricked on his first try in the Main Event yesterday. However, he's off to a good start on Day 1c after a sizable pot here in Level 4.

With the board reading {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and about 15,000 in the middle, Zhu bet 7,800 from the button after the big blind checked. That player thought a bit and splashed in a call. Zhu turned over {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for the nut flush.

With about 2,600 already in the middle and the board reading {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades} all four players who saw the flop checked.

The turn brought the {J-Spades} and the small blind checked. Linh Tran bet 1,700 from the big blind, Tsuyoshi Muranaka folded from under the gun, and Simon Burns called from the button.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Tran bet again, 6,500 this time. After a bit of thought, Burns folded and Tran took the chips.

Players are now on their first 10-minute break of the day.

After one limp in middle position, Hyeonwoo An made it 700 to go in the cutoff. A player on the button called and so did the small blind, but Celina Lin made it 3,500 to go out of the big blind. Both An and the small blind called.

Action checked to An on the {9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop, and he shoved all in for 17,425. The small blind quickly folded but Lin thought about two minutes and called.

Lin: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
An: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

If Lin was hoping to see a draw, she was left disappointed. The turn was a {j-Spades} and the river an {8-Clubs}, so An doubled up with two pair.

Saitoh Takes One

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

The player under the gun opened to 525, Ryuichi Saitoh called from the hijack, and Valeriy Fokin called from the button.

The flop fell {A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} and the preflop raiser checked. Saitoh bet 1,000, Fokin folded, and the preflop raiser did the same shortly thereafter, so Saitoh took the pot.
