Cheung Doubles Through Janik in Sick Fashion

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Sparrow Cheung
Sparrow Cheung

Scott Janik opened in the hijack for 27,000. Sparrow Cheung shoved on his left for 134,000 more, and Janik thought briefly and called.

Janik: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Cheung: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}

A chop seemed all but assured until the {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Spades} flop gave Cheung a flush draw. No waiting, as the {2-Spades} locked it up for him on the turn.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and both players checked.

The {K-Spades} fell on the river and Li bet 32,000. Ko quickly called and Li showed {J-}{7-} for jack high while Ko flipped over {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of kings to take the pot.

Tsai: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Cheung: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Cheung's rail called for a queen, but none arrived on the {2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs} community.

Masatoshi Tanaka Eliminated in 16th Place (₩5,100,000)

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Masatoshi Tanaka got his stack in preflop against Chengbei Li who had him covered.

Tanaka: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Li: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}

Tanaka found himself in the ultimate preflop cooler situation and needed help from the deck in order to preserve his tournament life. The board ran out {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} which was no help to Tanaka and Li took the pot to end his deep run in this event.

Sano Over Noda in Huge Pot; Leow Busts

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

In what looked like a limped pot, Hiroyuki Noda bet 16,000 on a {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop and Mitsuru Sano made it 35,000 to go. Noda called and checked the {a-Spades} turn. Sano bet 85,000 and Noda raised to 230,000. Sano called after some thought. On the {4-Spades} river, Noda tanked awhile and checked. Sano bet 150,000 and got a fairly fast fold from Noda.

At another table, former chip leader Ivan Leow busted. We got there too late to see exactly what happened, but Taehoon Han had shown down {a-}{k-} on a board that ran out king-high.

Masatoshi Tanaka shoved from the button for 93,000 and Dmitrii Kovalevskii called from the small blind to put him at risk.

Tanaka: {3-}{3-}
Kovalevskii: {Q-}{Q-}

Tanaka was way behind with the smaller of the two pocket pairs and needed help from the deck to preserve his tournament life. The board ran out {J-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds} to give Tanaka threes full of sevens and he took the pot to double up.

Masanori Ishihara Eliminated in 19th Place (₩4,480,000)

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Masanori Ishihara
Masanori Ishihara

Mitsuru Sano shoved all in from the button, covering both blinds. After a pained couple of minutes of tanking, Masanori Ishihara called off for about 100,000 in the big blind.

Sano: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Ishihara: {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Ishihara needed help but shook his head as an ace was in the window. However, the {a-Hearts}{5-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop gave him a straight draw. The {9-Hearts} just missed Ishihara, and the {3-Clubs} was no help either.

At the neighboring table, Yuichi Sumida lost the last of his chips after doubling up Justin Chan when Chan got there with {k-Spades}{8-Spades} against {a-}{10-}.
