Chandrashekhar Back; Villanueva Chips Up

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Akash Chandrashekhar played on Day 1b and failed to get through, losing a big portion of his stack with the nut straight against rivered quads. Chandrashkhar just walked in while Renato Villanueva chipped up when defending his big blind to a single raise.

Villanueva bet a flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for 525 and received a call before doing so again for 550 on the {10-Spades} turn. The {Q-Spades} river was checked through and Villanueva showed {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and that won the pot.

Also in: Jaehyun Lim.

Gosavi Gets Going

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Badri Kedar Gosavi is getting off to a great start, opening the action to 550 from the cutoff and finding a caller in the small blind before big blind Sameer Rattonsey squeezed to 1,650 from the big blind.

“Well, that’s not very friendly,” quipped Gosavi tossing in the call and the small blind also came along for the ride.

The {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{a-Diamonds} was checked all round with Rattonsey leading out for 1,300 on the turn after the small blind checked. Gosavi made a quick call and the small blind called once more keeping the action three-way to the {q-Diamonds} river.

Neither the small blind or Rattonsey looked as though they liked that third diamond and checked, but Gosavi seemed happy enough to lead out for 6,000.

Once again the small blind made a speedy call to send Rattonsey into the tank for at least a minute, but he eventually folded leaving Gosavi free to show his cards. Gosavi triumphantly rolled over {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the flush and the small blind mucked.

Early Chip Movements

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Mark Gruendemann faced a raise to 450 and a call by the player on the button before moving all in from the small blind. The initial raiser from under the gun asked for a count and the Irishman was at risk for 7,750, which ultimately won the pot without showdown.

Gruendemann flashed {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and raked in a small pot, but remains among the short stacks right out of the gates. Below are other updated early counts.

Four Seat Open in Level Two Already

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Ngoc Pham, Ming Suan Tan and Mark Gruendemann were the next three players to run out of chips entirely and join the rail. Among those to join in on the action in level two was High Roller Shot Clock finalist Yo Seb Rhee, who is aiming for another deep run here at the PokerStars LIVE room in Manila.

Mudgal Starting Well

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

There have been several new arrivals over the last level with High Roller Shot Clock champion Peter Plater and Romit Advani joining the action, and Tom Or-Paz rejoining the action after an earlier bust out. Interestingly Or-Paz has received exactly the same seat draw so we’ll see how that works out a little later.

A clean shaven and almost respectable-looking Dhaval Mudgel has also joined the action, making it 400 to go from under-the-gun and finding callers in cutoff Jaydeep Dawer and button Hermann Lee.

Mudgal continuation-bet 550 on the {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop and while Dawer folded Lee made the call to take play heads-up to the {q-Hearts} turn.

This saw Mudgal slow it down some and check, with Lee checking it right back to bring in the {j-Spades} river. Now Mudgal reached for chips once more, flicking out a 1,075 river bet, only to see Lee quickly re-raise to 4,075 in total.

The Indian player did not take long to respond with a re-raise of his own, three-betting to 10,000 in total and Lee folded immediately.

Narula Folds to Ang's Shove

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Vijay Narula was down to 7,000 early on and spun that stack up when moving tables before he got into a big pot with Kai Loon Ang. The latter shoved the river of a board {K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{A-Hearts} when Narula bet 13,500 into a pot of 18,000. Narula eventually folded and was sent back to the short stack, while Ang has already more than tripled up what he started with.

Obara Back; Yogo Arrives

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Hilario Lagnada was the next casualty of Day 1c while Jun Obara almost doubled up his starting stack. Iori Yogo had not participated in any of the events during the festival in the Grand Ballroom at the City of Dreams complex yet, but the Japanese just walked in with a ticket in the hand and sat down for bullet number one.
